Anybody else seeing the "ONE Wimbledon Pop-Up" channel in their Freeview EPG?
Channel 15.
Is this TVNZ Sport Extra reincarnated?

Yeah, I just discovered that same press release myself.
The text in the broadcast says:
Welcome to ONE Wimbledon pop-up Channel
Replays of the 2015 Wimbledon matches
Start Tuesday 30 June 6.00am

Given the mention of replays and the fact Wimbledon runs on the other side of the world while most of us here in NZ sleep, I suspect the pop-up may be used for repeat/catch-up coverage during the day.

No sign of the channel on satellite at this stage...

Yeah, I was wondering this myself.  What is this channel 15, and will it be available on satellite?

There's no entry for it yet on the freeview tv guide, even for tuesday when wimbledon starts, which would show the satellite and terrestial availability.

Rescanning gave me one new channel, Ch-1924, to match the mysterious Ch-1937, which I think was already there.

@rmt38
I think the channels you're referring to are the leftovers from CUE and Sommet.

Best ask TVNZ that question

Shame it appears to be DTT only.

Alright, I've used my seldom used twitter account to ask @tvnzone.  And I've gone to their "contact us" page and put in a sport query:

Something like: It's great that we can watch..  How do the satellite viewers with expensive metered viewing who can't use ondemand, watch the overflow channel 15 that's mentioned in your listings.

I predict that the twitter one may get an answer, and the contact us one will get noticed and answered some time after wimbledon has finished!

I have had a talk to Freeview regarding this and the Pop Up Channel is available only on DTT Freeview only.

Thanks for doing that.  Unfortunate, but I see a lot of half watched matches in my future.

Popped up here in Gisborne(JDA) but only in SD...bummer. Pity TVNZ couldn't go the extra mile for HD like the TV One broadcast.

mrbbi: Popped up here in Gisborne(JDA) but only in SD...bummer. Pity TVNZ couldn't go the extra mile for HD like the TV One broadcast.

There are not enough spare bits on their transmitter. As it is they'll have to cut the quality of their other channels to squash it in. If they wanted to go HD with it they'd have to drop HD on TV ONE or TV 2, and/or lose one or both of the plus 1 channels. Alternatively (and unlikely), they could opt to broadcast on the 4th WTV transmitter which has enough bits... but then they'd have to pay extra transmission costs (read: that ain't happening), and the JDA areas like yours wouldn't get access to it.

If you want HD then watch/record TV ONE between midnight and 6 AM. That seems to be their prime/main HD TV viewing platform.
