I see Life on Mars has been cancelled in the US but unusually will be allowed to run the season so they can have a proper conclusion

Wonder what its ratings are like here?  TV3 said 24 was put on C4 because it rated low on TV3 yet I think this season of 24 has been one of the best so far. Perhaps TV3 can now put LOM on C4 and replace it with 24!

It was a brilliant UK Show that never should have been remade.  Just goes to show how fickle the US tv viewers and studios were that they thought it needed to be dumbed down and actioned-up for US tv.  Idiots yet again.

And Harvey Keitel was just so wrong for the Gene role. Looks like a grandfather and why Sam would fear him I don't understand!

The UK version was excellent. It was just stupid to remake it for the US.
I see that the episodes the have just shown on TV3 for the last couple of weeks have been adapted from the UK version (i.e the story lines have been the same as episodes from the UK version).
Shocking.

It's up there with the other shocker US remakes, with Kath and Kim USA.

+1 for Life on Mars. But even the Pom's can get it wrong the follow up to Life on Mars - Ashes to Ashes didn't rate that well in the UK and I have only watched a couple of the episodes and have no interest in the rest. Maybe one day when I am sick.

And +1 for Kath and Kim.

The American’s even train wreck their own shows though, I must admit that CSI: Miami is a right turn off, and CSI: New York is just mind numbing. Perhaps CSI: Your Average American Town will rate better (I so hope they don’t make any more of these, they are getting very stupid).

Cheersdb

You must be really impressed that TV3 has dropped Burn Notice mid season in favour of CSI:M then, because it has basically 'burned' me from watching TV3 on a Thursday.

Didn't know that. BN is one of the best shows on TV now and it helps it's not from a major network. But the BN season is usually only 12 episodes so they are only showing 6?

Well they were actually showing the last season on TV3 but it was HD and DD5.1. Other ways of getting the programme (like a friend over there recording them and sending out a VHS tape) are likely to be of lesser qualityInnocent

Apart from Keitel being Hunts Grandfather, LOM-US isn't too bad. It's definately not as good as the pommie version, but when have the Americans ever done that. The first couple episodes seemed like a culture shock but half way into the season it became watchable.

I've found the U.S. version of Kath and Kim suits the American audience. Not to my taste, but I don't think they screwed it up like some of the other remakes.
