1080p: Have you purchased much online before? Almost everything is charged in Euros or US dollars.

I just thought it was odd it was Euros, like I said first website ive ever seen to charge in Euros, everything I buy online is USD with the exception of GBP from amazon.co.uk (and hey notice how the .co.uk TLD tells you what currency they charge in, its like magic or something).

also services like rdio, itunes charge in your local currency.

just thought it was slightly annoying, having to pay an additional currency conversion fee.

but moving on

His prior enterprise was charged in euro's as well.

I think it is much more desirable and transparent to pay the currency conversion fee directly. Otherwise you will get into the situation as with itunes, steam et al where we pay substantially more than had we purchased in USD with a 15% markup for GST and currency conversion charge.

(at least I am under the impression we pay substantially more..)

gzt: Dotcom still plans to go ahead with the advertising client and says there are big misunderstandings about this. He is talking about replacing only a few ads from major sites or major publishers. I didn't quite get it. Possibly just google search ads. This is interesting strategy. Particularly if google ads are the only ones replaced. He mentions a figure around replacing 10% of advertising a user will see. He gives a kind of justification for this based on moral grounds that google is benefiting from users searching for 'illegal' content and this replacement will redirect revenue directly to artists.

What kind of "moral grounds" does he have to justify replacing the ads showing on my web pages with his own, depriving myself and my family of my income?

He's not sticking it to the big man only, he's crippling the revenue people make for a living, you know?

My bet is that scheme isn't going to happen. He's going to make his money from people paying directly, or by selling advertising space directly.

Exactly. I can't really understand the hysterical concerns over what "might" happen. Complain if it happens, otherwise it's mostly just hearsay and speculation.

Huh? I don't think anyone forgot their password, there were password issues with the site which resolved themselves the following morning. Multiple people reported it.

Also, It looks like there has been a hack program already now!! If you do manage to forget your password on MEGA, here is a tool that may be able to crack it with your confirmation link that was sent to your email? - http://tobtu.com/megacracker.php
Not sure.. haven't tried it yet..

freitasm: Well, won't waste more time on this. It didn't work at launch, it doesn't work now.

1080p: Because all software is written bug free and scales to more than a million members in a few days with no problems at all. I would have expected someone with your perspective to understand teething problems with new software better than most.

I don't think MF likes Kim Dotcom and his Mega plans..

I don't have anything against the person or his service. I have been pointing out that for a group that have previous experience in large Internet-based services they should have planned better for the launch. This means better resiliency, scalability. There's nothing personal. That's what being a Devil's Advocate is about.

If you think I have something against one or the other then you are wrong.
