I'm trying to import a csv contact list into Outlook 2010.  The majority of the phone numbers are in standard canonical format i.e

+(international code)(area code)(number)

but when I import them into Outlook, it drops the plus sign.
Very annoying as I'm wanting to sync this with my mobile.

Googling points me to "Actions>Call Contact>New Call...>Dialing Options" for Outlook 2003, but I can't find or work out the equivalent for 2010.

Anyone experienced this before?

It is Windows 7.
I don't think the Dialling rules dialogue is the right place though.  Nothing there alters the displayed number in Outlook.

my Outlook 2010 saves contacts fine, and doesn't alter the number when I create a new contact with +64 xx xxx xxx etc

normally the first time you create a new contact in Outlook on a freshly installed Windows 7 machine, Outlook will prompt you up with that dialing rules dialogue box

Thanks for your help.

When you mentioned the dialling rules I did set up my area code and restarted Outlook, but its only taken effect since I restarted the Telephony service.

Cheers!
