How long did it take to get your UFB installed from the date you placed your order?

I placed an order 2 weeks ago but I'm still waiting to be given a date by Ultra Fast Fibre. The Snap reps I've talked to seem to think it takes 5 working days for a date of install to be given by UFF.

3 months. Chorus screwed up the design 3 times and it was an MDU install.

4 days. However I was moving into a new house that already had fibre. Though the ONT was missing, Chrous said the last tenants probably took it.

That does't fill me with much hope, although mine isn't a MDU.

The Snap FAQ states "5-10 working days". Pffft.

Indeed. I was after a range of responses.

Does the time vary between ISPs?

Been 3 weeks from the date it was ordered and haven't heard when we are supposed to see the technicians or anything yet. I can understand that installs will vary from property to property but shouldn't those variation occur after they have worked out what needs to be done at the property and not before? Surely 2-3 weeks after ordering to not have heard anything is unusual?

I'm at about two weeks and waiting. Had to prompt my neighbour to sign the shared driveway convsent letter, so hopefully it won't take much longer.

Incidently the same neighbour has been waiting 5 weeks total now for their install, but at least he's had Chorus come around to briefly check what needs to be done.

Are you covered by Ultra Fast Fibre or another provider?

  • 14/01/2014 Called Snap
  • 14/01/2014 Account active
  • 16/01/2014 Call from Chorus
  • 17/01/2014 FritzBox arrived
  • 28/01/2014 Chorus install

The delay of a week or so was because I requested the install on the 28th, as we moved into our new house on the 27th.

3 months for one install, 5 months and counting for the other. Neither are MDUs.

Wow. Perhaps I should strap myself in and prepare for the long haul.

I'm sorry I don't know what that means, the chorus availability tool says fibre is available and we have signed up for it through Orcon but that is as far as we have got, waiting to hear from them.

Approximately four months. The indoors installation was done within a week of my request, but Chorus had no agreement to use Wellington Electricity poles for UFB delivery. This was a cause of delay for a lot of people in Wellington, I understand.
