What are you going to use the NFC tags for?
Do you have to program them or anything?
Could you use them with an app like tasker to do things like turn the GPS on when in the car dock?

I bought a car dock from eBay, very solid looking thing and adjusts to fit ipads etc and the seller was confident enough to give it a 2 year warranty. Cost 14.95 AUD including shipping and took just shy of 2 weeks to get here.

Edit: answered my own questions with this link http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/weekend_project_make_your_own_nfc_tags.php

I ordered them from Ebay -link- 10pcs for $12.82 NZD after conversion. The car mount that I got cost $9.67 NZD. It is a headrest mount but it will be suitable for me after a few modifications for a dash mount. And this is the case I want. I am also looking into something like this to use as media storage when in my car but that will be at some later stage.

Will be using the NFC tags with Tasker to set up car mode when in the car holder as well as using a couple around home. Bought them mostly out of curiosity.

That case looks nice, but doesn't mention whether it has the on-off magnet or not.  At the moment I've got mine in an old kindle leather case with a magnet taped to the appropriate spot - got quite used to it automatically turning on and off when the cover opens and shuts.

I will be doing the same thing if the case does not have a magnet embedded. What sort of magnet are you using? I have been playing around with a fridge magnet (a biggish round one) but I will not be using that.

Neets: Just checking that you held the power button on long enough. It takes a few seconds hold before it switches on. I've read a few people who have had a problem in the Whirlpool forum (Australia) but in NZ we seem to have escaped the majority of problems they have reported.

If you have to return it,let us know how you get on.

I did a reset by holding the power and volume down buttons for 12 seconds and released the power button. It took a few minutes to reset and rebooted and all was back.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Actually my magnet was from the fridge too, but obviously somewhat smaller. It is one of these from dx.com, but I'm sure the smaller diameter ones would work as well.

Got mine from Dick Smith on Saturday. All seems fine except it has four points of backlight bleed on the left hand side.
I checked with a friend of mine and they don't have the same issue with theirs. If I turn my brightness to manual and keep it near halfway then it is not so much of a problem.

The one I got was the last they had taken out of the display cabinet. I am debating weather it is worth waiting for new stock or just put up with one I have got, as there no other stock they can replace it with.

Also don't want to end up getting another one with the same issue, how many people here have the backlightbleeds issue?

Would Dick Smith give me a full refund in this case, providing I don't get a staff member saying it is normal and refuse accepting it of a refund?

You'd get a refund fairly easily, tell them to source you one from another store in the country.

Mine has no issues.

+1 - Dick Smith have been very good with sorting out replacements in my experience (I did a swap-out a few months back). I've only had a refund from them once about 20 years ago, but that was pretty much no-questions-asked even back then.

I've not noticed any light bleed on my unit.

Back light bleed may indicate the screen is coming away from the body, this is an issue that has been documented on the WWW

There's a thread about the issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1781237

I just took my N7 apart using nothing more than a fingernail and an SIM card. Came apart really easily. The trick is apparently just to try tightening the visible screws, some units have had quite loose screws apparently. Mine are fine, I just took it apart for something to do.

Take a lot of care over tightening or uneven tightening could cause the screen to break.
