I find it no different from the Nexus 5. I used mine outside last week when testing Rural Wireless Broadband. The only time I went into the shade was to see a dark screenshot of GoogleEarth.

Hard to say, but N5 is 2Gb/16Gb RAM/storage vs. 3Gb/32Gb, so straight way the M3 has a performance advantage, as I have yet to get an 'out of memory/space' message. Side by side Shazam, the M3 is quicker 80% of the time, be it 4G or 802.11n WiFi. It out does that N5 it battery life by between 8 & 12 hours. The N5 has the M3 beat on camera quality and touch response. As I've noted elsewhere in this thread, I have encountered issues with touches to open a file, app or link not working momentarily.

One thing to remember too, the Nexus 5 was $600 (2014) vs. $359 for the M3. I once had a Huawei G300 that I paid $299 for (on special) that from week 2 I wanted would like to put a bullet through. I have no compunction to do the same to the M3.

How do you bring up the menu in an app on the M3 note? I have apps that have a search function in the menu but they have no menu on the screen. I used to tap the menu button on my Samsung but the meizu does not have one.

I wanted to send this as a PM, but that option is not available.

M3 Note has a swap warranty. Pop into a PB store and they'll sort you out on the spot. :)

Recommend returning this unit for a replacement under swap warranty - we haven't had any other reports of 2degrees MMS not working, and haven't been able to reproduce the issue in-house, so may just be something misconfigured. Sorry for the trouble!

Well that didn't go so well. The pessimist in me says "it went to plan".

When you had made the last suggestion, I popped into Penrose the following week, I went to the phone counter and was asked to wait and someone would come and advise me. Their advice was to take it to the service desk. I headed towards a very busy service dept. when I took a call from an agitated client and had to leave. Curiously the same client who told me to "get yourself a proper ..cking phone" a few days later, after I asked him to email me the pictures he was trying to MMS through to me.

I finally had an opportunity today to take the phone in. Perfect timing, as someone had just sent me a MMS and I'd be able to demonstrate the issue. I was advised they could book my phone in for assessment and possible repair, but it would be several days before I got it back. I then quizzed them about the 'swap warranty', a key selling point from my perspective. They countered with "only if the phone was less than a month old". I showed them these pages, but they weren't budging.

While it seems a breakdown in communication somewhere, I dare not raise it with my wife. I wouldn't hear the end of it.

Terribly sorry for this, the Penrose service team has had a stern reminder about the nature of the swap warranty. Any further issues with warranty or service, please email service@pbtech.co.nz and I'll ensure it's followed up.

Before you take it for service for the 2degrees MMS issues, however, I would appreciate it if you gave a new test build a whirl to see if it resolves the problem. Fortunately/unfortunately, you're the only one reporting any MMS issues with 2degrees, we've not been able to replicate it; this new build addresses MMS issues with Spark, but will be worth trying.

In our quick testing this morning, we haven't encountered any bugs. There may be minor niggles as it is a test build from Meizu's beta branch.

There are two hardware variants of M3 Note (They are made in different factories). To confirm the variant you have, navigate to Settings/About Phone. If the model number starts with M, it's an M91. If it starts with L, it's an L91.

To install, download the firmware either directly to the device, or to a PC and transfer over USB. Open the File Manager app, find the zip file, and open it to install. This will not wipe any data on the device unless 'wipe app data' is manually ticked when the installer pops up.

There are numerous other improvements in this build, including a system-wide local search application triggered by swiping up on the homescreen, and a simple weather app with widgets.

If you encounter any issues with Google Play Services following the installation, this can be fixed by opening the 'Hot Apps' application and reinstalling or repairing Google Services. The device will usually send a notification if this is required.

Just on this, but what if the model is just listed as m3 note?

Should have 'Product name' and 'Model' as separate details. Failing that, there's a sticker on the back, and the box will tell you the model number.

Worst case scenario, the firmware will not install on the wrong variant. Our first few shipments were M91, the latest batch is L91, so time of purchase may also help here. Stable builds are a single package for both variants.

Nice (beta) update, phone seems a lot faster.

I do have one small issue though and this was there before the update, but if I use the phones system launcher and long press to remove an app,
at the top of the screen where you drag it to, there is the trash icon with I am guessing the word - delete in Chinese. How can I get rid of that and make it English, without having to do a factory reset?

Also those who do update, you may want to check the region under Language and time. Mine changed to United States. The Extra-large easy mode is interesting too, for those with not so good eye sight.

The new update went easily and well. I am having trouble with printing from the phone. I have HP print services installed and it comes up with the enable service screen. It says the service is disabled but there is no toggle switch to enable it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Haven't seen that in any of the test units, could you share a screenshot?

This is a beta test build, I do not recommend installing it unless you have MMS issues.

I believe Meizu are aware of issues with print services. Recommend installing the standalone HP printer app in the meantime.
