The law of diminishing returns applies to most purchases at the end of the day I don't think anyone buys a flagship device extolling how cheap it is. I am not sure how much time I spent on my phone each day, but it's an essential for me, and compared to money I spent on other things that I use less, it could be argued it's the best value device I own at any price :)

When we talk about value, it is important to remember that NO flagship phone offers good value, and to some of us that doesn't matter because value isn't the point when buying a flagship phone.

A couple of years back I was considering whether a Note 8 would be good to own, but I was unsure of how I would find such a large phone.  I bought a value large phone to try out - Xiaomi Mi Max 2 for NZ$300 shipped.  I've been using this phone for the last 2 years as my 'daily driver' and I am very certain that the flagship phones that cost $1200 - $1900 are NOT 4 - 6 times as good.  The Mi Max 2 has a 6.44" screen and a 5300mAh battery - that is some top end specs right there!

I'm now buying a Note 10+ because I want one and I have the money to buy one.  Not everyone has that sort of money spare, but I don't drink or smoke or have children - that's a lot of money saved there!  I mainly spend money on the motorcycle and on tech gadgets, because that is stuff I like.  Sometimes there is something that I want and I decide to buy it despite a high price, value be damned!

Ride on! I guess this comes back to the subjective nature of value. Features for money; as Networkn said, we are well into the diminishing returns here. Your enjoyment/satisfaction for the money: clearly high.

Its not a coincidence you also mentioned motorcycles as they are an excellent example. Compared to cars: Impractical, dangerous, expensive, but hot damn, when life stops getting in my way, I will throw money at one like its a stripper bringing me my next hit uhhhh... the barista bringing me my next coffee....?

DANOFDANGER: How is vodafone any better. Infact i thought their offer was worse than PB.

They've sent an email to Vodafone customers saying to look out for an email coming on Monday with a special pre order offer..

Email has just come out. Exactly the same deal, but $100 cheaper off the price of the phone.

Underwhelming.

For me it's either the Note 10+ or the OnePlus 7 Pro. Like you say, it's like $700 and I am pretty confident the stylus isn't $700 worth, but I am still struggling with the decision. It's the difference between head and heart.

Which is the more reliable brand? The stylus is worth it to some people, and not to others. It depends what you want to do on it. The stylus does provide more precision when you need it. It is essential if you are editing a document, in terms of selecting text etc., To do it with a finger is painful. Even the writing to text can be faster than typing.

Battery life appears insane compared to old note 9.

Guess the move to a smaller process node is paying out, but that Note 9 must have had some issues; I would expect it to get beaten by the Note 10+ by a sizeable margin, and the OP7P by a smaller one, but a healthy battery of similar size shouldn't perform that bad comparatively.

I am surprised actually as I was impressed with how much better the note 9 was than anything I'd had before. Only very recently have I seen my battery life starting to suck, unable to get through a day, but I figured it was an app sucking the battery.

I was expecting better battery life from the note 9 considering it has a large 4000 battery. I found my iphone had better battery life based on my similar use of it You can get better battery life by reducing the features and going to a lower screen resolution, but those are the reasons for paying more for the note 9 to begin with. The always on display uses a lot of power, so I have it on touch to display.
