For those using their phones as a wifi hotspot, do you find there's an increase in data usage?
I've set my phone up as a wifi hotspot but the message appeared saying it would use more data.
It didn't make sense to me except that I might have the same app on the phone and tablet running, therefore both would be synchronising, duplicating the same content.

The Splashtop software is a paid for app on the tablet.  Not that I'm against paying for apps (have many already).  But I thought Splashtop might only be like using File Expert where you could RDP to your computer and vice versa.  It seems like it's capable of much more.  Nice.

Question about the keyboard, Can you flip the screen onto the back of the keyboard so it's back in tablet form factor without detaching the keyboard and if so does it disable the keyboard/trackpad? The dock is the only way for USB devices to plug in as I understand it and In a pinch I'd like to use the work vodem in it

No it does not flip back.

Check out the Asus software, that came with your TF.  Splashtop is included!  Or have you already rooted your machine?

I installed files off the ASUS website before my tablet arrived.  And I had Splashtop on the PC, but uninstalled it last night because I thought it was of no use.

The Splashtop app doesn't appear in my app drawer, but a lot of other pre-loaded apps are there, like MyNet, Movie Studio and a swag of others.

Are you saying Splashtop was an app on the tablet preinstalled?

My tablet is now rooted.

It's part of MyCloud.  If I remember correctly then click Desktop.

Well I'm going to take the plunge and get a 16gb version without the dock for the time being. Where's the best place in NZ to get one from? There's alot of places like

http://www.gimmedigi.com/catalog/asus-transformer-tf101a1-101inch-tablet-computer-16gb-tablet-with-k...

and

http://www.elive.co.nz/asus-eee-pad-transformer-tf101-zarc0001.php

That have them but none of the shop's i've used before have them

Ordered mine from Computer lounge, probably not the cheapest but you get 10% back in CL dollars and their customer service is excellent.

Elive are good, if you don't mind waiting 2-3 weeks Firstin has them on special for $599 today
Don't know if i'd trust the gimmiedigi.com, never heard of them and their website isn't rendering properly for me!

I've got mine coming from the US, paid for extra shipping so $592 for 3-5 day shipping apparently :)

If you wanted to do 8-16 days the cost would be a bit less, about $560NZD

Did you get a keyboard too?

I'm considering purchasing one from CL or Playtech, but I think they are waiting for their next stock of Keyboards still

On the Aussie Whirlpool forum they mention about the difference in keyboard layout from the Clove one.  If you have a look the # you find above the number 3 is different and the return [enter key] is also different.

Of course this might not matter to you, but something you may not be aware of between the k/b's available from Amazon (which they responded to me yesterday saying they wont ship to NZ unless from their International website - and it's not listed there) and Clove.

The Clove one is a European keyboard from what I saw, the Amazon.com is the American version.

I still can't fathom how Amazon.com the seller would sell the k/b with the tablet, but wont sell the k/b on it's own.  It's also the same complaint made by several posters on the Whirlpool website.

Oh of course, the Amazon would be the US layout, which we in NZ use
While the Euro would be the UK keyboard
While the Ebay versions would be the US keyboard with chinese keys, which also might be an option

I might email Computerlounge to confirm it's the US keyboard and the new revision :)

Yep, I'd already emailed Playtec asking the same.  I'll report back here when (if) they answer.

Computer lounge got 20 in today...all sold :(

They said some more could be coming in on Friday though and to preorder. It should be the US based one for us. Hoping if it's coming from the US that it'll be the next rev. but the guy couldn't answer what revision they were :(
