That's it - now I have to get one! I currently have the HTC Sensation and find the ring tones quite quiet, even at full volume. Years of maltreatment (working in noisy environments without protection, playing in rock bands, deep diving) means my ears are shot. I can't hear cicadas, because the permanent ringing in my ears is pretty much the same frequency. People are always asking me "Is that your phone?" when I haven't heard a thing. A ring tone with real volume could be the deciding factor!

Try it out for yourself. The One has the same ringtones on it that HTC have been using for ever, well certainly as far back as the Hero I owned. You should be able to compare your Sensation with the One in a store. If they are unwilling to oblige then they don't deserve your custom.
I was careful when I ordered a cover to make sure it had slots in it for both speakers, although I'm not sure if the ringtone comes out of both or just one.

Edit: Oh, and I don't rely on the stock ringtones, I use MP3s I have cropped especially.

I upgraded from the HTC Sensation XE to the One a couple of weeks back... it still wows me every day! Turning the volume up to max is loud enough to make you deaf...You're going to love it :)

Yes, I'll do that. But the biggest stumbling block is still getting the Mrs to let me spend the money before my daughter's sports trip to Australia and school trip to Japan!

hasp: Turning the volume up to max is loud enough to make you deaf.

I'm pretty much deaf already - that's why I need a louder phone!

Having a new phone will make it easier for you to keep in touch with your daughter while she is away. Surely your wife will understand and buy into that?

The speakers on the HTC One certainly helps with the volume of ringtones, even notification tones are loud and are of stereo quality, sounds awesome

On the speakers, I had a thought last night. Is it possible to get the speakers to play audio from two sources through each speaker. I.e. Navigation through the top speaker and phone loudspeaker through the bottom? Or would the microphone be interfered with?

Batteries don't "calibrate" (well they do, but they're calibrated from the factory and you only need to "calibrate" once every 40 cycles) and running down below even 10% will decrease it's lifespan.

Do not discharge lithium-ion too deeply. Instead, charge it frequently. Lithium-ion does not have memory problems like nickel-cadmium batteries. No deep discharges are needed for conditioning.

How about the other commonly thrown around advice saying you shouldn't 'bloat' the battery by leaving it on the charge too long. Is there anything in that one or is that again to do with old tech.

Another complete myth. With about a billion links... Charging is controlled by the phone. The only reason to unplug would be to save electricity in your house.

After all the buzz I'm am a little underwhelmed by the max volume I can wring out of my One. I'm unsure if perhaps my phone has a fault. I have wound the sound settings up to max but dont really think the volume is much louder than my wife's Galaxy 2 or my daughters One X. If I was hearing them working as intended should I be left in no doubt that these babies are loud suckers?

Any thoughts appreciated. Bill

Li-on battery does not like to go too low. I would avoid if possible from going below 10%
