I was seeing no lag on my SGS (Froyo JP6) at all until last night I ran Angry Birds for the first time. The phone has been lagging ever since.
I haven't re-booted the phone since. I will, but if that doesn't work I may uninstall the game....and if that doesn't work I may try another factory reset and avoid Angry Birds.
Amazing how running that one app one time can transform my phone into a semi-usable lag-fest.
UPDATE: Re-booting the phone sorted it out. But interesting the effects of running a game almost 24 hours ago were both significant and persistent.
Neets: What is it about SlideIt you like better than Swype? Just curious. From memory it's not free so presumably it has something much better. Cheers

I'm not using a lag fix at the mo as I want to see what affects lag and what helps avoid it.

I used Swype first and liked it. Then the beta / registration / login hassles kept getting in my way so I tried SlideIt...and found that it was easier to use. I can turn the slide mode off esily for entering passwords or odd bits of text / numbers / caps as required.

I tried SlideIt (free/demo) for a week but went back to Swype. Didn't seem to make a whole lot of difference to the lag. What I didn't like was the word suggestion/learning mechanism. Maybe it was me or the fact that it was a demo, but it didn't learn words like Swype does. It also doesn't have the punctuation etc available on long press on the keys like Swype, which I prefer to having to change keyboard set.
When it comes to entering passwords/text/numbers/caps, I don't see the need to 'turn off' slide mode on either keyboard? If you just starting pecking keys it works just like a normal keyboard, why turn off the slide mode?
