I get a decent discount as i work for an IT company so it wasn't too bad, however i trust their warranty more than other parallel importers so i felt it was worth it.

Samsung have categorically stated that there is no region lock on their NZ Note 3 as its an Asia Pacific model and is not subject to region locking.
Source: Their facebook page.

Telecom release on the 10th. 4G but doubts on which storage size from CSR's

They've just released their note 3 support pages.
http://help.telecom.co.nz/app/answers/detail/a_id/33660/

No mention of ANT+ connectivity but they do mention this

  • Internal Memory: 2 models - 32GB or 64GB total

Which goes against what the CSR's were telling me. "We'll get the 16 or 32Gb but I dont know which. We wont get the 64Gb."

Wouldn't you look at the processor to determine whether it's a 4G model.
For instance, Note 3 variants are
- Dual SIM not for NZ.
- 1.9GHZ Octa-core which is NOT 4G LTE capable.
- 2.3GHZ Quad-core which is 4G LTE capable.
I beleive from an earlier SamsungNZ facebook post they confirmed NZ will be getting the Quad-core 4G LTEvariant.

I have reason to believe that the 2degrees one is 32GB and has LTE disabled in the firmware.

http://www.coolmobile.net.nz

can you please provide some feedback

  • is it region locked ?? how do you know
  • is it LTE enabled ??  I received an email from expert infotech regarding their note 3. They got it from Singapore and it is the n9005 mode but they said does not support Telecom XT?? where as mobicity states that the n900 supports XT. What is with all these differences...grrr

The n9005 will work fine on any NZ network and i am fairly sure this is the one that will be sold by all NZ resellers.

2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - all models
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 - N9005
4G Network LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 - N9005

ie the n9000 and n9005 support all the same bands except the n9005 also supports LTE

Got mine from Cool Mobile - no idea about region lock, but I suspect not since it's Asian market sourced (certainly no problem with NZ SIMs). LTE works fine on Vodafone 1800 band and should do the same for Telecom.

SamsungNZ have posted this on their Facebook page. Storage Size: 32GB.
"...the New Zealand variant will be the LTE-capable N9005, with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, and 32GB of storage. Also, thank you for the retailer feedback, we'll follow-up with the network operators ... Cheers!"
