That's the MIUI7 developer ROM right? Does this have Google Play installed? If not, could Google Play be installed easily (without having to root..etc)

I downloaded it from en.miui.com which is the official Chinese/English only and doesn't include GApps. Installing them seems easy enough: http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=147371&highlight=gapps

There's also this one which I think includes GApps and support for other European languages.

Finally there's this one which takes the above xiaomi.eu ROM and adds some tweaks, it's supposedly pretty good according to XDA

To answer more directly, yes it's the MIUI7 developer ROM; I think you need TWRP (and root?) to install gapps or the other ROMs. There is also this more user friendly way to get GApps on the official ROM

Thanks. That sounds good. I can install the GApps myself. The one on my wife's phone drain battery like crazy at standby mode.. and keep wanting us to install some bloatware.. so i want to install a better ROM.. hopefully that one is good?

btw, if i install that one and install GApps, or the one from the last paragraph you linked to, I'm assuming I can still update to the official ROM easily in the future?

She fully charged her phone last night. At 11pm it was 100%, then she unpluged the phone and leave it there,... this morning at 8am and it was down to like 8% !!!????

Check the battery usage, there really isn't anything stand out re battery consumption...

I charged mine last Wednesday, it's due for a charge tomorrow morning. I tend to turn data off when I'm not using it, but still, sounds like a bad app or bad rom.

Upgraded to the MIUI7 developer ROM from xiaomi's website.
Phone runs smoother and way cooler
Crazy battery drain @ standby = no more
Pop up ad asking to install dodgy apps = no more
that fun weather app that I just can't get rid of (keep reinstalling it even after i delete the file..etc) = gone

seems pretty stable and fast!

Thumbs up to Xiaomi!

Thumbs down to gearbest.com that presumably installed that dodgy ROM (which has a unusual version number)

For the people with Xiaomi phones, have any of you tried http://smiui.net ? Recently saw this on XDA about being able to remove a whole lot of the unnecessary 'stuff' resulting in better battery life + faster phone.

I tried to use it, but couldn't install it onto my redmi note2. Got some checksum (or something like that) error when try to flash their ROM

Is there a Xiaomi Note 2 or Huawei P8 lite or similar phone that works well on Spark network (Skinney).

Needs to work well in rural areas, not bothered about 4G.

The Xiaomi Note 2 will be fine on Spark/Skinny - the 3G frequencies are 850/900/1900/2100MHz.

Wonder if there will be any savings on the TDD one, that seems to be the one to get since it does FDD anyway and is cheaper.

Seems like they've jacked up their prices abit ahead of the sale. I got my TDD Note 2 from Goldway with fast dispatch and DHL shipping for $235~

Pretty damn happy with battery life, currently at 77% since this morning with 1.5hrs SOT so far on Xiaomi.eu 5.10.22 ROM. Just a shame it doesn't support OTAs and will have to flash new ROMs manually
