Got a OP6 over the weekend with PBtechs sale.  I have missed OP, forgot how good they are.  The note9 has gone back in the draw for now.  Installed pie via oxygen updater and must say I like pie a lot.

Might look at the 6t but i want to see the reviews of the in screen finger print scanner before jumping.

d3Xt3r: You can install it using the Oxygen Updater app on the Play Store.

I haven't installed it yet though, will wait for Xposed to be updated.

Edit: But the bullet and updated to Pie, everything is working well. Will have to somehow manage without Xposed for the time being I suppose.

Thanks for this hint - wasn't aware of Oxygen Updater. I installed it and the Pie update, and it all went like clockwork.

Overall, I'm liking Pie; its management of notifications is certainly more comprehensive and easy to use. Taking a little getting used to the new navigation 'buttons', but think it'll feel normal (and better) in a short while.

Two good things that I imagine are Oxygen-related - 1. the ability to select a custom colour for accent colour, and 2. the adaptive brightness seems to be more responsive (and brighter) than previously, which was so often overly dim I gave up on it and ran Velis Auto Brightness.

I purchased a One Plus 6 over the weekend as I have given my Note 8 to my wife. Her phone had an unfortunate interaction with a toilet bowl and its contents, she didn't want to use it anymore. I really like the One Plus and it's faster than the note and the charge rate is amazing. I am very impressed with this device. It's still on Oreo and I am not sure if I should wait for the OTA update or use the updater

I reckon go for it, Mike - it seems a pretty stable release, and you may as well enjoy the latest OS from the beginning of your ownership! It does make for a more polished user experience, I reckon.

I feel for your wife - I did the same for my old LG G3, but was less squeamish than her; after a bit of a rinse and drying out the phone didn't miss a beat. The slight water damage to the screen pretty much disappeared after a few months. That said, it did give up the ghost about 2-3 months ago, but given the 'incident' (in a public toilet, no less!) was probably 2.5 years ago.

Updated here using the Updater (thanks for that tip!) Working perfectly. This is definitely the best phone I've had, battery life has been amazing - hopefully this update doesn't break that! It does seem a little quicker too - but that is purely a subjective comment.

Did you go incremental or Full update?  I'm running completely vanilla 5.1.11.

I did the full update and it was smooth and easy. I like the new look of Pie and it seems very smooth so far.

I updated to 9 using the Oxygen updater. took no time at all and all is good. Some nice changes in the OS and certainly adding to the experience of the One Plus

If you think oneplus charging is fast wait till it gets super VOOC (currently has standard VOOC).  Currently VOOC does 5v 4amp, Super VooC does 10v @ 4 - 5 amp.  The Oppo Find X has it (3700mah battery charged from 0 - 100% in 35 minutes).  I'm hoping it turns up in the 6t or 7

You can put the Oppo fast charger on the OnePlus that charges at rates close to VOOC but that worries me. Pushing power into batteries at those rates stresses the battery and I have concerns about combustion and longevity of the batteries

VooC and Dash are the same tech, Oppo is Oneplus parent company.

Meh, the oxygen updater won't download the update - just spins its wheels and times out.

Sitting on a plane from Dubai to Zurich - I've just seen another OnePlus 6 in the wild. It's not the most common phone out there but must be getting some market share 😀

One annoyance post-Pie update is I'm randomly having the NFC notification icon pop up on the top of the screen, and I can't work out how to get rid of it. Disabling all notifications for the two OS apps with "NFC" in their title doesn't do anything.

Given the shortage of real estate in the top bar, thanks to the notch, I'd rather I didn't have superfluous icons (especially since I always have NFC enabled so don't need the warning!).

Can anyone offer any advice of how to get rid of the icon from showing?

Settings -> Display -> Status Bar -> Icon manager, turn off the icons you don't want to see.

Thanks. Somehow I missed this setting yesterday in a fruitless search for control over its visibility, but as luck would have it managed to find it this morning soon after posting the above; but clearly didn't delete my post quickly enough!
