Had a look at the demo units at Noels. The shiny metal case with sharper edges than normal looks and feels less premium than prior model IMHO. That said, if you are happy with 2 degrees as your provider for the next two years, then the pre-order offer is the best value for money phone offer I have ever seen. Period.
It's not locked.
Joined and cancelled open term plan same day, they even offered the lower $30 plan when i asked to cancel but I told them that prepay is cheaper for the same, csc was like yeah and happily cancelled the open term.
Did 2 Degrees enforce the repayment of the $400 discount per their standard terms and conditions? They should, and if they didn't, they are only encouraging more buyers to do the same.
nope actual contract says Handset price $699 rather than $1099 so you only pay off $699-$29(minimum payment to signup)
mAYH3M: Anyone got that email from NL? The staff at Moorhouse Ave. store asked me to present the email when I mentioned about the headphones.
That sucks. I went into Noel Leeming in PN to have a look at the demo model, they didn't even ask me for the email, they straight up offered the headphones and watch deal right off the bat.
Also i just read through some of the older posts and saw a whole lot of people worried about paying back the $400 if you cancel early. I have so far bought 4x phones (iPhone Xs, iPhone XR, & 2x Galaxy S10) with the $200 2degree discount on each phone, cancelled early and didn't pay the discount back - so I've saved $800 so far, pity the previous offers weren't also $400 discounts.
i'll definitely be taking advantage of this new offer, $400 off + headphones & speakers is a great deal. If you can get say $300 by selling the freebie stuff it means the P30 would essentially only cost you $400, which is just a crazy good deal. ($1100 rrp - $400 discount - $300 by selling freebies = $400 cost to own). At $400 cost to own it blows away any other phone you could buy outright for that kind of money.

I had a chat conversation with NL yesterday and they told its for MYNL customers only and if you join before 12th April you can get this deal.
so for those that open and cancelled their 2degrees plan straight away, do you then just have to pay the balance of the phone straight away?
Do i have to stay with 2degrees at all?
lctham:if you cancel you are required to pay the full outstanding balance in full, you can either pay it immediately or have it added to your bill, then pay it in full by the bill due date.

edit: and you can leave 2degrees as soon as you cancel or go on to a prepay or cheaper plan.

edit: and no, you can leave 2degrees immediately.
and is that balance less the discount? ie for the P30 pro, the balance would be $699, or for the pro it would be $1099, is that right?
lctham:for P30 it'll be $1099 - $400 (discount) - $29 (minimum deposit) + $xx for how ever many days you have been on the plan (pro-rata). (for P30 pro put $1499)

or you can just pay the phone outright $699 (P30)/$1099 (P30 Pro) - then when you cancel the contract you only pay for however many days you were on the plan (pro-rata)
so I just went into Noels and PB Tech (Wellington) and asked about the 2degrees term.
Both sales people have said you have to stay on 2degrees for a minimum of 3 months before cancelling. Then you pay the balance in full.
People still confident you can quit straight away?
Pre-ordered mine from NL, the guy was cool without the email
Deal is too hard to pass up especially when I'm looking for an upgrade
