ShinyChrome:

The Exynos SoC just can't handle the jandal.

Like you said, if you going to be playing games longer than 20 minutes look elsewhere. Thats why the Black Shark 3 that I posted specs for was invented, sd865, 12GB ram, 1440p+ amoled 56w charger 38 min 100% 5000mah, liquid cooling and if that isnt enough the fan cooler sold seperately supposedly leaves the back of the machine Ice cold when used. If you wanna game, buy that for $1k for base model.

But it doesnt look business like, it looks like a gamers phone, and that is the difference. Although oneplus is pretty darn good value too.

We have moaned for years about Samsung putting exynos chips in and SD in States, then China and now South Korea. The good news is europeans have had enough and are petitioning it. You never know, Samsung may listen.

We all thought it was because they couldnt get enough SD chips, which kinda never really made sense when plenty of other companies didnt struggle, to find out it is a deliberate decision to increase competition, sucks even harder.

But for now;

You just cant beat the screens or the Note experience and thats the sweet joy of Samsung.

Who knows, maybe one day they may match apples taiwan chip set, but I highly doubt it with Taiwan chips being years ahead of the pack.

Are there any parrelel importers of the S20 or even S10 note Snapdragon version?

So after all last night with the Note 20 Ultra, I'm just in love.  It oozes quality.  The matt glass on the back feels incredible.

Yes sir, its one of the prettiest phones out there. How are you going with the size?

Speaking of those xiaomi sharks, I saw a pic of an S20 Ultra next to one and it looked little, so I imagine the S20 Ultra handling cant be too bad?

He is SO right about Micro Contrast with bigger sensors, latest sensors from samsung, huawei, xiaomi (samsung main sensor) etc are getting close to something like a pocket point and shoot 1" Sony Rx100, its lens is also very special. I notice it with my a6500 and a kit lens, I may as well be shooting with a Sony Rx100. This is where Huawei imo have pulled ahead with the p40 pro, not just the bigger sensor, but the leica lenses. Either way its all heading in the right direction. No doubt portable cameras will pull ahead, as thats their only goal to be a camera, but is nice to get higher quality images now, using bayer type tech etc helps.

So despite the PB tech guy saying there is a case in the box like the Note 10, there is not. Maybe I should have opened it in store. Most cases I've searched are due on the 27th. Has anyone found any at retail stores in Wellington? I really need to try them before buying.

Ordered the Samsung Smart LED case for the Note Ultra last week from Mobile Fun, arrived yesterday and picked up my Note today. Love it so far.

There is  a joke there, but best not got there :-)

I do agree with this guy about the 4500mah being way to small for a phone this size with all its functionality, Im sure many would have rather had 6000mah and a fatter phone with no lens bump. But Sh happens and they cant get it right for everybody.

The reason I asked is Im looking at the new Galaxy S7 Tab with the SD865 and the 1440p+ SAMOLED 144hz screen. My a30 does the job for home use, its been watching Netflix when going to sleep for 16 months now, yes the 4GB of RAM is showing its age, usually if I close all and reopen an intense app its fine ie Netflix. I also need a new small notebook. The thing is Im fixated on Amoled displays. And the new SPen is imo just as good as the iPad Pro experience. I was going to get an S6 which isnt 144hz its 60, but not a lot more benefits for me as a notebook except the SPen now is crazy fast, which makes me wonder, if I could have excepted 10" tablet, could I put up with a 7" Phablet?

I remember the very first EEPC, oh my goodness thats going back 13-14 years, it had a 7" screen. I remember pre Nokia smartphones, with physical full size mini qwerty keyboards one side and screen the other, some 18 years ago.

I loved my Note 5, is it the time to take the plunge. So the battery is small, its not a snap dragon, energy bank to the rescue. Actually his review is with a SD865, so if the Exynos is 25% less battery, it does bare consideration.

Let me know how you go for battery life in real world. Synthetics cant tell the whole story.

Mine is all setup, does anyone one else have the rattling noise?
I googled and Samsung's site says it's normal but still a little off putting.

Sadly yes. It's very subtle but noticed it within a few minutes. MKBHD's review on YouTube also mentions it.

I had a quick search about the rattling noise and seems even the s20 has that noise .

https://youtu.be/o-h9ySPutXk

I am surprised that the company didn't bother to fix issues minor ones like these .

Interesting. No rattling at all on my S20 Ultra. He did mention in that video that the phone was pre-production. I haven't bothered to watch the whole thing or research more though :)

There's literally a giant sensor that is optically stabilised.

It's completely normal.

Nit picking at best :)

Haha yeap. Haven't noticed it at all in the last couple of days of usage. Just that initial paranoia that something may be wrong when you shake it :)

A clear winner... the Snapdragon unsurprisingly!
