“It is important not to let the perfect become the enemy of the good, even when you can agree on what perfect is. Doubly so when you can't. As unpleasant as it is to be trapped by past mistakes, you can't make any progress by being afraid of your own shadow during design.”

Telecom bringing customers the future of wearable mobile technology
Telecom customers can access a whole suite of new Samsung devices from today, with the launch of wearable technology - the Gear 2 and Gear Fit, as well as the flagship smartphone - the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Telecom Retail CEO Chris Quin says, “wearable devices are and will continue to play a huge part in the way our customers use mobile technology.
“Samsung is showing some great innovation in this field with the latest version of its smart watch, the Gear 2 along with the Gear Fit - a wrist device that will keep you connected while on the move and allows its user to take advantage of a number of health-related features.”
The new water and dust resistant Gear Fit comes with a heart rate monitor and a pedometer and is able to keep its user connected by receiving pop-up email, text and call notifications when paired to the new Galaxy S5.
Mr Quin says the waiting’s over for customers wanting to get their hands on the Galaxy S5 today.
“We’ve had a lot of customers pre-order the Galaxy S5 and they’ll be the first to get the new device today.
“We know our customers won’t be disappointed; the Galaxy S5 has a number of new features like its IP67 rating making the smartphone water and dust resistant.”
The Samsung Galaxy S5 also features the ‘Download Booster’ pairing 4G mobile data and WiFi bringing customers a faster network experience.
“Telecom customers can take advantage of over 900 free WiFi hotspots on our WiFi Network to pair WiFi and their mobile data to bring them more of what they want online, quicker,” said Chris.
Pricing and Availability
Customers can purchase the Samsung Galaxy S5 for $1,049 outright on any Telecom Prepaid or Ultra Mobile plan. The Gear 2 can be purchased from selected stores and online for $399 outright and the Gear Fit can be purchased for $299 online from launch.

Vodafone customers buying the new Samsung GALAXY S5 can enter the draw to win $100,000 of gold. Daily prizes including Samsung GALAXY S5s, speakers and tablets are also up for grabs to Kiwis visiting the Vodafone website and entering online.
The Samsung GALAXY S5 gold variant is available only from Vodafone at launch.
Matt Williams, Vodafone Consumer Director says the rush for gold kicks off the launch of Samsung’s flagship phone.
“Anyone who purchases a Samsung GALAXY S5 from a Vodafone store or online between 11 April and 11 May 2014 can enter Vodafone’s Great GALAXY Goldrush. They register on the website, and pick a spot on the map in one of Vodafone’s 37 4G-coverage locations across New Zealand to enter the draw to win the gold. Customers can enter on a daily basis for the length of the competition.
“The 4G-capable GALAXY S5 goes on sale from today,” continues Matt. “It has a new design, improved autofocus camera and a kids’ mode so your children can use your phone without you worrying. It’s water and dust resistant and comes complete with new features including fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor.
“And the GALAXY S5 has an Ultra Power Saving Mode which turns the screen to black-and-white while cutting down on the apps available to you.”

The Warehouse is pretty good with their Red Alert deals with latest phone. That's where I bought my HTC One M7 last year.
Some of the layout changes really bug me. Widgets hard to get sorted, less front screens, live wallpaper I love is gone (windmills). Sure some of this will sort when I read the manual lolz. But overall its nice and fast to use. Everything feels very quick over the S3
Still insanely expensive. Refuse to pay over $800 for a phone that doesn't offer much over it's previous model and will no doubt have a slightly better spec'd one released in 6 months.
