Even my Pixel 4a gets pretty warm while I'm using it intensively. 20 minutes of web browsing over 4G and it's quite warm to touch.

Chis:

How hot do you find your Pixel 7s get?

I'm interested in getting one but have read about major heating when using mobile data, especially 5G, and things like the camera or Android Auto.

I'm on a Pixel 7 Pro, and it gets "body temp" warm in my experience, but only when connected to Android Auto. Some videos make the phone warm as well though.

I haven't used 5G yet, doesn't work on my device.

you won't have to worry about it overheating when using 5G as this doesn't work in NZ (yet).

Got my P7 (non-japan version) from mighty ape two weeks ago and am over the moon. On skinny, so no volte (although I haven't gone to any great lengths to try get it going) but everything apart from that works great - in Christchurch and auckland signal for calls has been just fine and surprisingly high voice quality (possibly thanks to ai voice filter). Switched from my Galaxy note 9 which sadly died of a brutal screen smash after nearly 5 years of service. Battery life is very very good - I leave home at 7.40 and regularly get home at 630 with about 60% left. Fingerprint scanner seems to be super fast (surprised very much by how zippy it is); I thought it would be a downgrade compared to the one on the back of my Galaxy but not so. Even with a screen protector (a reasonable quality tempered glass one) it seems to be just as quick. This also might have to do with me also having face unlock on and only one fingerprint registered (so it doesn't have to compare the whole set), but not sure if that really makes a difference. Camera is great, a huge step up from my Samsung, but my partner's iphone 13 seems to just beat it very very very slightly (you'd only notice after a very intense side by side comparison). Despite being a former professional with an A7III at my disposal I think I'll find myself doing a lot more phone photography. Screen is lovely and the higher refresh rate is a lovely improvement. The software as I'm sure you all know is super clean and absolutely seamless, which is not a word id really use to describe samsungs one ui. Overall immensely pleased with my purchase and had no problems so far.

My P7 gets hot when charging. However thats the only time, I only use it for web browsing and not playing games, so can't say that I stress it much.

Its a great phone, the fingerprint sensor is iffy, but that might be because of the screencover. Its a bit of a talking point when people see it, something that you don't usually see in a world of samsung.

I have a Pixel 6 Pro on Skinny and after following the instructions at this link (found on the Pixel 6 Question thread) I have VoLTE working

Sooo... I ordered a new Pixel 7 from einfo last night. It states 'GVU6C' (which I understand is the international non-japanese model so shouldn't have shutter click?). I'm already on Spark.

Am I going to be largely 'good to go' without needing to do anything too technical, like root etc?

My understanding is I won't get 5G, but the VoLTE should essentially work automatically?

My Redmi Note 9S has died after almost 3 years of use which necessitated a change... I decided to spend a bit more this time and I'm particularly excited about have a good quality camera on my phone. Hoping everything else works well too!

Can literally just shove your SIM in and away you go on Spark, it's others who sometimes have troubles.

Awesome, thanks for the confirmation - I was hoping that was the case. Quite excited to get my hands on this later in the week. I was also pleasantly surprised that the 'global' model was no more expensive than the Japanese model, given it seems to have a couple of benefits over the other model.

No worries, and the March feature update is coming out *today* too which is nice. Looking forward to that.

I'm a little gutted they pinched my Google VPN access when I set up payment for my Google One plan however LOL.

Also installed the March update this morning. No VoLTE on my P7P on 2Degrees :(

Checked the settings screen thing and also made a call, it went straight to Hspa.

This gives me the answer I was not hoping for on my P6, which is yet to get the update.
P7 on One updated and VoLTE confirmed.

If I wasn't such a dyed in the wool 2D customer I would consider switching. It's not like I have a phone I'm paying off with my plan haha
