Finch: Hey guys.

Ok while this doesn't have anything to do with HTC One as such, it is my device and didn't think my question was worth opening a new thread.

What is the difference between "Music" and "Play Music"? I (Im guessing most/all of us) have it installed on our phones.

Music is the songs from your PC you have copied over and Play Music is the browsing of thousands of songs like Spotify?

Thanks, sorry for the noob question :P

Music is HTC's music app that ships with the phone. Play Music is Google's app, it allows you to play music you have on your device as well as files you have uploaded to the cloud. It also has the Spotify like service as well.

Any idea when we'll get the 4.2 OTA?

Might as well just flash a custom rom at this point.

Hey guys. I have just picked up a One a couple of days ago from Telecom after my yellow Nokia Lumia 920 suffered a number of faults and I demanded a replacement.

Was tossing up between the S4 and the One for quite a while. After a couple of days playing with the One I feel pretty sure I made the right choice. It feels so nice and I really like how clean and simple the interface is, it feel much more intuitive and friendly across the entire OS compared to the One X.

My handset seems to be free of any gaps that seem to have been quite wide spread, I freaked out when I saw this had been an issue. Although I've only had the handset for a couple of days I already feel that it is the best phone I've owned (previously iPhone 4, HTC One X & Lumia 920). There is something about this package as a whole build quality, physical looks and feel, and interface that comes together to deliver a great experience. I enjoyed the Lumia and didn't really want to give it up but I simply didn't trust nokia to fix the problem for good and given the length of time it took to sort it out I had to let it go. Surprisingly and happily the the One has surpassed expectations considerably, I should have caught on to this earlier like all of you here :D

Has anyone brought the Smart remote app that HTC recommends? At $12ish it seems quite expensive, is it worth it? Any other quirks with the phone one should know about?

HTC One

I gave up waiting.  Android Revolution HD ticks all the boxes, and is the most popular custom ROM for the HTC One.

Hi, I have two questions - I've had my One since Queen's Birthday and am wondering whether my camera is normal - I quite often end up with elongated objects (often heads, that look really creepy) at the top of the photo when in portrait, and to the left in landscape, if I don't compose the photo very carefully - if I am too close to the subject, or have the wrong angle, then everything at the top/side is noticeably skewed - does this happen to anyone else?

Secondly, I bought a VF One, but use it on 2degrees? Will I still get the update (if they ever actually release it!)??

Thanks for your help!

First that really doesn't sound right. Maybe check the lens cover for a distortion or scratch? failing that maybe reset the camera settings.

Second, you should still get the update as it comes from HTC and not VF.

I was told by Vodafone twitter person today that the 4.2.2 update will come sometime next week for HTC ONE. No specific date given as its upto HTC to release them. So hopefully the wait ends soon.

Oh man, I just checked for updates and got the small security update that I heard other HTC users around the world got just before their full OTA upgrade to 4.2. Was so excited.

Sadly, after the reboot there was no update waiting.
Can't be too far away though, hopefully.

We have to remember that Newzealand isnt the biggest country or the most popular.  However the HTC One update will come eventually...  And there are apps to help feature-wise.  After all, you buy a Phone for what it is...  not what it will be.   Good luck :D

Yeah I got the same thing - was getting very excited! Hopefully not far now, although if I am honest I am not sure what to expect...what are the big features in this upgrade? Will I notice a big difference in features/function?

@SumnerBoy. The big updates are the quick settings on the notification bar, so you can access a bunch of settings from your notification swipe-down bar. Next big feature is lock screen widgets. As well as these there are also some features that not necessarily bring cool and awesome stuff but that solve annoying problems these features include: Battery percentage on notification bar (next to battery meter icon), New ways to eliminate the black menu bar from the bottom of the screen and have a new way of using the menu bar and Instagram for BlinkFeed.

Checked for updates and got the small fix up. Then after a restart checked again... Installing 4.2.2 now:
