sultanoswing: 2 degrees store on Victoria street in Hamilton has at least 2 pebble blues in stock - they showed me them when I popped in to buy a blank micro-SIM card in preparation. None on the in-store displays yet, of course.
Too bad my order is still pending at NL (must be one of the seven they have waiting to be filled!).
Social Bitcoin meetup every 2 weeks in Hamilton PM me for details

if you drop a phone from a reasonable height onto a sharp object or its edge how much extra protection will the average case give or does it just give us piece of mind.

A huge amount I would say, depending on the case. My case has a soft edge, raised lips, and a cool metal type back. If the phone landed on its edge, the impact is on a very very small area = a high force per square inch. If its lands with a case that has a softish edge, there is no shock, and the force is spread out over a larger area, and there is give, so to absorb the shock.
Also, my phone dropped onto a concrete path , while I was sitting down. Landed flat on its front, flush. The rubbery edge has a lip, so the glass never got touched. No issues, that was early last summer. (Beer was involved)
The ideal case looks good, shows the phone, and protects the edge.

i know its an overkill, but i love the otterbox setup, 60 bucks to protect a thousand dollar phone... im not the best at math but that sounds pretty good to me
EDIT: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/otterbox-for-samsung-galaxy-s3-commuter-series-glacier-p35326.htm i am gonna get this when it comes available
nofam:lokhor:nofam:lokhor:P1n3apqlExpr3ss:lokhor: Does anyone with the Telecom version of the phone have the BetterBatteryStats app? I need to know if they have Kernel Wakelocks showing up called secril_fd-interface as this means Fast Dormancy is causing wakelocks. Telecom's XT network does not support Fast Dormancy.?
Mines Vodafone but Telecom SIM
That's kept it awake for 9m 20s, or 1.9% of the time. PowerManagerService has kept it awake for just over an hour in comparison, whatever it actually is and audiooutlock 6% of the time (music playback i presume)
Yeah mine is a 2Degrees one but with a Telecom sim and I am pretty sure Fast Dormancy is causing wakelocks :( I am trying to figure out how to disable it as Telecom don't support it but it seems to be enabled by default on the non telecom versions at least.?
Does the usual *#9900# not work on the SIII?
Sadly it does not
