I called 2° today asking to cancel my $40 plan after purchasing P30 Pro from Noel Leeming on Thursday.

Initially the lady on the phone said "after talking to my manager you have to stay on the plan to get the $400 discount". Then I asked how long do I have to stay on the plan? She put me on hold for another 2 mins to talk to her manager and said "You can only cancel your plan after you have received your phone. Otherwise you will have to go to Noel Leeming cancel the whole order including the device. You will also have to pay for the plan cost (pro-rata) from the date you signed up and the date you cancel your plan."

I wonder how people cancelled their plans right after signing up. Why did 2° told me I can only cancel it after receiving the device.

DeepBlueSky:

Hi Guys,

We have streaming music with Google Music account but also a truck load of MP3's and Flack files, seeing that the P30 Pro comes with a truck load of storage (256GB) I was thinking of moving some music to the phone.

Does Huawei have an app to to backup files from your phone or copy files to the phone ?  If not what do people recommend as the best app for this kind of work.

Yes, Huawei has got an app called Phone Clone.

The Phone Clone mentioned above is to copy a phone state to another - when moving devices.

The answer to the question is, yes, there's a Phone Backup app:

FWIW I have plugged a SSD via USB C and the phone had no problems recognising the drive - this can also be used for backups with that app.

Yea, things like Google Authenticator or game saves.

I haven't tested with Google Authenticator... I recommend Authy as it is linked to your phone number and syncs to desktop as well.

Recently, I lined up at a Huawei demonstration event and finally got my hands on the phone and took a few photos. The Huawei photo guru complemented me on my efforts and explained that, if I zoomed in my photo of the demonstration booth, I would be able to see a clear picture of some distant items. I tried this, and the result was pretty good, but the thing is that you don't know how good your pictures are compared with say a mirrorless camera or DSLR, although they were busy saying the rules of photography have been rewritten and so on, all suggesting that you might as well toss your existing gear away!

So, to Huawei demonstrators, a suggestion is that you have a couple of good mirrorless or DSLR cameras on hand so that people can really see how good the P30 is (or isn't)! People were saying isn't it amazing that you can get such clarity of distant objects, but other good mobile phones can do the same and mirrorless high megapixel cameras can no doubt do it a lot better.

Anyway, as a pocket / travel camera it's probably a great investment provided that your expectations of picture quality aren't too high!

I've cancelled my Flickr account last year after being a "pro" user for i can't remember how many years.

Just don't feel Flickr is anything like it once was anymore (that was way before Facebook, Instagram)

Anyway, here is a photo I shot on P30 Pro yesterday, using light painting mode.  Edited to taste to bring out the colour and contrast a bit more
