Still waiting on the Mate 8 update came out last year. Even asked on Huawei NZ page and they could give no eta bar "coming". Glad the 9 is getting updates as at this time I would be unhappy to buy again having never even had one.
Some good news with regards to software/security updates and also update to oreo.
The mate 10 is due to release on the 15th of November so hopefully before xmas we may see it.

Yeah, nah. Given up. Love the phone hate the lack of updates. Anyone buying a 10 better expect zero updates ever cos thats what those of us with the Mate 8 have had. Seriously never buying another Huawei which considering how much I love this phone says something about the NZ Huawei people. Ive emailed them, Ive replied on Fb threads and best ever had is "soon".
I don't hold the NZ Huawei team responsible - all they can do is pass on the info (or lack thereof) from Huawei's engineering team. *They* are why I'll be changing brand when I upgrade, even though I'm still quite fond of the hardware.
My Mate9 has just had an update to version B189. This is Septembers patch, and apparently there is a November one available/to come.
Apparently they had an issue with there server so it wasn't pushing out updates.
Have also been told EUMI8.0 and android 8 will be released early in the new year.
The communication i have had with Justin has been great.
Novembers update is B191 and should be avaliable to all users within the next 10 or so days.
Yep, wife's Mate 9 got the update yesterday as well as my brand new Mate 10 Pro.

Started download 11 hours ago and still at 55%... For comparison daughter's Nokia 8 showed a notification this morning, downloaded 1.7GB in minutes and applied the update already.
