Good for a test, but not for everyday use.
When I first got my One, I had a spare Vodafone sim in it. I can't remember exactly, but I think on first boot it was a generic rom with no Telecom branding. However when I put my main Telecom sim in it, I was asked if I wanted to select the carrier settings from the sim. Stupidly I selected yes. I wonder what would have happened if I had stuck with no....

That just installs APN settings and the shortcuts for the Telecom website.

I forgot to thank you for this. It did indeed prove that my One isnt crippled. In fact there is an app available on the Play Store (called LTE setting) that effectively brings up the same page as dialling the above code. Holds the Auto GSM/WCDMA/LTE setting until I reboot the phone. I don't feel left out of the 4G goodness now.
Note: The app warns about not changing settings lest you lose network connection. Caveat Emptor

Were you just after a way to turn on LTE auto mode? You can do that in the stock phone settings, you don't need a third party app:
Go to Settings => Mobile Data => Network Mode => choose the "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto" option

If only it was that simple. The crux of the problem is that the Telecom ROM for the One has had that option removed.

Seriously??? I thought they used the same ROM base as the VFNZ ones? The same as the Optus AU build - 2.24.980.2? Why on earth would they want that setting taken out??!??!
On another note, anyone happen to have a copy of the STOCK recovery image for this build that they could share with me please?
Balm its gone!
Krishant007: does anyone have access to the international HTC Rom available? (updates straight from HTC)
