Oh you.
I feel like I'm at a bus stop and I can see a big shiny new bus with 'Gingerbread' on the license plate off in the distance. The bus I'm waiting for is running late and may be overtaken by the shiny new bus by the time it reaches my stop. I'm also fairly sure that when I get onboard, my seat will smell like a hobo pissed on it...
Meanwhile, Neets drives past in a modified racey two door with all the latest bling imaginable...
Seriously though, this rollout has shown me how far down the pecking order we are. It even feels that the telecom firmware is infront of the vf firmware and thats a model that has been on the market for a fraction of the time. Samsung might not want people fiddling, but they aren't exactly falling over themselves to dissuade people not to.

Indeed - my plan is to continue running Doc's JPO until Froyo is released, and then downgrade to the last stock Eclair ROM (JM8?), and then run the Kies hack to put me back on the VFNZ upgrade path.
I'll then capture the ROM with the reg hack app (great feature that!).
Also, has anyone else the audio fix mentioned here
I'm a musician, so I'd consider my ear to be reasonably good, and after 'calibrating' myself with my Blackbox M10 phones and a selection of specific songs, the improvements in sound quality from the above fix are quite massive.
Well worth a look!!
Neets:
Seriously though, I'm not even holding my breath for Gingerbread. If it's taking this much just to get Froyo to NZ it seems near impossible to dream Gingerbread will make it to our shores.
All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

Did you download the SamSerMode app from the market? Seems to be the easier way. Though I'm unsure how to check if the Service Mode is installed on the ROM.
ah-ha! As easy as typing the following into the dialler: *#197328640#
meeekael: I've worked out you can save bookmarks to the home screen, but the icon is crummy. anyway to change that?

Not sure what launcher you use but if you use ADWLauncher you can long press the icon and choose a new icon from there.
May work on Launcher Pro too but I cant test it.
Social Bitcoin meetup every 2 weeks in Hamilton PM me for details
wazz: Flashed CyanogenMod beta2 today and damn it's nice. Think I'll be keeping it, plus calls sound much clearer now.
Convinced me to pick up a 16gb sdcard too.
