I called 2° today asking to cancel my $40 plan after purchasing P30 Pro from Noel Leeming on Thursday.

Initially the lady on the phone said "after talking to my manager you have to stay on the plan to get the $400 discount". Then I asked how long do I have to stay on the plan? She put me on hold for another 2 mins to talk to her manager and said "You can only cancel your plan after you have received your phone. Otherwise you will have to go to Noel Leeming cancel the whole order including the device. You will also have to pay for the plan cost (pro-rata) from the date you signed up and the date you cancel your plan."

I wonder how people cancelled their plans right after signing up. Why did 2° told me I can only cancel it after receiving the device.

This never got answered. Now Ive been told in the thread 3-4 people have cancelled. If so how have you done it without the above PITA?

Lastly what colour is everyone going with. I like the blue but not sure if it will grow tacky and if the black is a more professional look?

Just watched this review of the p30, p30 pro and mate 20 pro. Doesnt seem to be a lot in it.

The one model I really like is the mate 20x, you can get this whopper for $1099 for the dual sim model. or for the single sim with a stylus.

I read the p30 pro night mode isnt working correctly yet, by Dannys photo seems to prove that wrong?

Just ordered the P30 Pro from PB Tech - looking forward to it! The camera looks amazing in real life!

Let me know via PM though if anyone wants to buy the PB Tech freebies incl. the watch as I don't need any of the freebies.

each reviewer has a slightly different look and views on it .....most of them are positive haven't really seen no negative one on it yet

3 things that make this ph different than the rest

1.zoom lens

2.time of flight sensor

3.excepetionaly low light photography

ive heard theres already a software /camera update  fixes sum of the issues on it

Cheers for your thoughts. I just went and had one last feel. I DEFINITELY like the p30 feel more. The curve screens I just dont get the point, they are annoying to hold and you lose a lot of the video in the edges.

But Im tooo afraid to order the P30 as its cameras dont sound as good and its missing the time of flight sensor.

I would but the mate 20 x instead if NL wasnt offering the two goodies.

Straight away the asian man said cancel 2 degrees plan immediately and i get watch and headphones, didnt need the code.

So prob going in tomorrow to order with the credit then use my cash to pay 2 degrees.

One thing Im worried about, if you choose a colour and they dont have stock, you cant change your colour choice to get an availablle phone. Im worried i could be stuck on 2 degrees paying for a plan and not having a phone.

Is anybody else ordering or ordered in black?

One thing I will say is the galaxy S10 really impressed me with its design and quality, the Huawei feels ok, but the s10 is a whole different level of nice. But you need to pay $2100 to get a cameras close to the huawei?

@Tealeaf

I was in the same boat. The P30 Pro is awesome but I'm put off by the price and curved screen. I don't think that the p30's camera would be too different than the p30 pro so I ordered the black one. After placing my ordered I compared the size of my P9 plus and the P30 is just slightly smaller and the P30 pro is only slightly bigger which made me doubt ordering the p30 but I can't afford any more.

There has honestly hasn't been a decent new phone offer like the one offered by NL

The really interesting thing is we seem to be getting the phones cheaper than Australia, UK and Gear Best , I had a look at JB HIFI and PriceMe AU than showed a store called Kogan and they are selling for just on $1,600 AUD and Gear best showed NZ$1610.00 but looks to be sold out. Pricespy UK has the cheapest P30 Pro 128GB version at $855 UKP = $1,654.90 NZD

So really interesting we are getting such good pricing in NZ, maybe Huawei likes us.

AU have dual sim version maybe that's why it's more expensive. The cheapest P30 Pro 128G in the UK is also dual sim version.

But yeah, this time NZ got some really good prices and deals!

I'm pretty sure New Zealand was the first western nation where Huawei consumer products sold well. So you may be right, perhaps we are a favoured nation.

I agree, well done Noel Leeming, putting PBtech to the sword.

I think considering you still get the goodies and can cancel the 2deg its a great phone camera. The wide angle doesnt have ois and is a much dimmer aperture but I dont think its a biggy. 3x telephoto isnt far behind. And you get a 1080p HDR10 compliant screen for $700 basically, if you sell the other kit, $250ish. How can you go wrong.

Some people on various forums are complaining of green tinge. Apparently the bayer layer is not working in certain situations, Huawei yet to fix.

If a buy preorder, do they take the $1099 now and start the $40 plan?

I presume not because if you have to wait for your phone due to colour unavailability you are paying for something ou havnt received or can use ie 2deg plan

Great the p30 pro and p30 use PWM, who doesnt enjoy flickering to control brightness. You will find it at about 233mhz. Can be seen in this video next to an s10 and ive included the rankings, just do a ctrl f to find it on the page.

https://www.notebookcheck.net/PWM-Ranking-Notebooks-Smartphones-and-Tablets-with-PWM.163979.0.html

And check out the unusable night 4k video stabilisation, one of the reasons I was buying the phone was for OIS plus AIS stabilised video. This really bites me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lw8my5e1KWg

Given EUI on the Huawei gets pretty horrible reviews, the phone has green tinge issues, the video stabilisation in low light is unusable and it uses PWM to drop the brightness, Im starting to see why now it is such a cheap phone. Along with big thick and heavy,

Its one and only redeeming feature I am seeing is the night mode and the UW lens for macro.

Im feeling extremely torn as I wanted this phone to the one for me, the love of my life, but I just cant get passed her personality and largely her looks (reverse this if you are female).

If there was a similar deal on the Galaxy I wouldnt hesitate going with it.

Is there actually a problem with flicker in the real world? I've never noticed it on my OnePlus phones but they seem to have similar refresh rates.

Physically it's much the same as my OnePlus 6 which isn't particularly big for a 6.4 inch device.

It seems to me that you can talk yourself out of any device if you want to.

So it's slightly better than my S7 which I've never had a problem with.

Who actually walks around taking 4K video in the dark?

Each to their own but I prefer a lot of the Huawei images in the comparison video.  You seriously saying you don't see the zoom on the Huawei as a redeeming feature over the S10?

To be honest I don't think you're ever going to find a phone you think is worth spending money on.  I do thank you for the comparison links as it has confirmed that I made the right choice for my use with the Huawei.
