Yeah, that's true. I might bite the bullet and stick with this phone. I mean once the external card reader is fixed I just will need to upgrade to 2.2, so I can finally use skype. BTW, is NZ "official" Froyo out yet?

wazz: Can't believe they wouldn't just give you a new phone. Isn't that one practically brand new?

Bought in September.

Well it's out for everybody if you hack your Kies. Not like you have to root your phone or anything. Doesn't seem to be a biggie as Kies lets you back up and restore as part of the process.

You shouldn't have to do this, but apparently VF don't care about you once you're contracted, or we'd have had the official update by now. Sad really. Can't see me sticking with VF once my contract is up, and I've been with them for a decade. More fool me, I suppose. Frown

Cheers,

What is worse is that when it finally does get released, it will be adorned with vodafone bloatware just to rub salt in the wound.

Glad I took matters into my own hands and won't be looking back. Roll on Gingerbread custom roms.

Pretty happy with the double everything deal telecom has going on right now. Ended up getting 100 minutes, 300 txts and 50mb of data for $40 a month.

Its Froyo all right

I only seem to have lost my widgets off my home screens but i could not care less.

It only took around 5 minutes to flash and run through the setup wizard again after it was finished, it sat on the galaxy S screen for about a minute before carrying on.

The menus are alot more colourful but the Data icon at the top has gone grey instead of blue.

It has a few more options like if you hold down the power button has a data network mode turn off and on.

If I run into anything else I will update.
