Upload success via kies... just Z4root will not work now and has been removed from the market.

Now the next question.... will galaxy s ever see Gingerbread :-)

It may have less calories, a face and buttons

Have no idea... I just assume its going to have improvements over Froyo?

Eclair - Great
Froyo - Better
Gingerbread - Better +

Better video support (video calling), lots of background changes to do with the VM that should improve gaming.

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

The Killer App for me in 2.3 is the streaming media capability. . . .probably not a major for a lot of people, but there's not even an app for doing this (easily) on Android, which is frankly bizarre.

The keyboard from 2.3 is available on XDA developers for Doc's roms if anyone cares to give it a whirl?

wazz: Pretty happy with the double everything deal telecom has going on right now. Ended up getting 100 minutes, 300 txts and 50mb of data for $40 a month.

I just switched to 2 degrees 60 min (with rollover) / 100 bonus monthly mins for 1 year / 1000 txt / 50 mb - $29 / mo, no contract.

Mine will, one way or another. ;-)

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner. HTC Sensation has gone to its new
owner. Galaxy S3 has gone to its new owner. Now using Galaxy Note 3. Skipping Note 4 I think...

morocco: I upgraded to 2.2 via kies, vodafone store phone ( impulse buy ).

My process was

- Run the Registry Patcher v1.7
- Run Kies
- Attach phone
- In registry patcher, choose VNZ as product code, Write Registry
- Update Firmware in Kies

Relatively painless, though had to download the firmware twice.

got impatient so i used this method, worked fine :)

Has anyone used the Save Rom function to 'capture' the download stream while updating via Kies?  This seems like a very sensible option to keep a backup of the 'Official' NZ rom in case you wanted to sell the phone and put it back to a legit, vanilla state.

Also, can anyone tell me if the updating via Kies to the official Froyo will fix the kernel bug issue affecting the older Doc Kalpik roms like my XXJPO?

I'm also impatient and followed this method. Was quick and easy and the update is downloading as I type.

Just downloaded this.  Going to give it a shot.  Not sure what's new, but hey, I like the latest things :-)

I'll be super excited if the new voice to text in the Gingerbread keyboard works.  It has an English - New Zealand input option so I've got my fingers crossed.

Vlingo doesn't work for me.  Maybe I have to put on a masculine voice but it doesn't work for my husband either.

Nope, voice is still completely bonkers. And to make matters worse, when I say my hubby's name it puts in my ex's name.  Ok they are similar but still!  How the hell would I explain that?

I got the email sorted out to how it use to be setup so no problems there.

No problem'l with the GPS, the only thing I did yesterday morning before the upgrade came through was actually upgrade maps to the latest version.

One issue I have seen is that there are only 4 apps available under the samsung apps page.

I have installed Flash and it works perfectly.

nothing else to report.
