Updated via Kies tonight, and it all went without a hitch. . . . .couple of issues with App Brain/market telling me I have pending updates for Google Maps and Adobe Flash, and then throwing a tanty when it tries to install them and discovers they're already up-to-date; I guess that's what you get when you upgrade from Froyo to Froyo, and Kies thinks you have actually had Eclair.

Also, the e-mail notification icon in LauncherPro isn't updating once I've read e-mails.

Very pleased to report the speed is lovely - I turned off the ext4 lagfix on my Doc rom tonight, and it was pretty laggy. . . . .the speed difference is huge on this new rom, but time will tell!

polglase:
dpf81:
morocco: I upgraded to 2.2 via kies, vodafone store phone ( impulse buy ).

My process was

- Run the Registry Patcher v1.7
- Run Kies
- Attach phone
- In registry patcher, choose VNZ as product code, Write Registry
- Update Firmware in Kies

Relatively painless, though had to download the firmware twice.

got impatient so i used this method, worked fine :)

I'm also impatient and followed this method. Was quick and easy and the update is downloading as I type.

Ditto, couldn't wait for the update, followed the above method, running 2.2 now...Smile. Some of the Samsung widgets have disappeared, so will have to download and reinstall them.

Hey, does anyone here know how to change the colour associated with a calendar (Exchange calendar in this case) in the SGS Calendar app? For some reason it has been given a maroon/brown colour which makes it very difficult to see on the calendar.

Samsung Note20 Ultra, on 2degrees

Has anyone found after updating to Froyo that they now seem to be in a different Market region? I have a Galaxy from Telecom and updated a few days ago, but now some of the apps I had (and paid for) are no longer available in the market when I search from the phone, but are still there when I search AppBrain on my PC.

Yep. Whereas I needed Market Enabler to see Navigon prior to the update, I now see it in both AppBrain and the Market app without Market Enabler. But to be fair, I was using a Doc ROM previously and that's a Western Europe based hack so in my case, it figures. The number of available Samsung apps has dropped from 7 to 5 as well.

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner. HTC Sensation has gone to its new
owner. Galaxy S3 has gone to its new owner. Now using Galaxy Note 3. Skipping Note 4 I think...

There's a new Firmware that has been leaked and it's Android 2.2.1 XXJPU, apparently ~1200 Quadrant scores without a lagfix.

Lol I am unsure. I was going to wait till I'd stopped flashing for a bit and see if my battery usage stabilised.

It's indeed way faster, from cold boot it takes ~25secs to start, the whole system seems way more snappier even without a lagfix applied.

I don't think my phone can handle much more flashing now ;)

Now trying out Doc's Version of this, more or less just because I want Backlight Notification and none of the Samsung crap.

CM 6.1 is based on 2.2.1 as well and it is indeed fast.

Cyanogenmod 6.1 does not have the better camera + has bugs galore for the Samsung Galaxy S

I think we need to wait for the kernel source for 2.2.1 to be released before we see a good speedmod kernel for this rom.
