Samsung Mobile NZ has just announced on Facebook that we'd be the first in the world to get the S4 at 10AM on 27/04.

Does this apply to all 3 carriers or just Telecom since they are the only one doing pre-order?

Telecom I am sure does not have exclusive rights to the handset

Sure, because how often do Vodafone (or any other telco) exclusively launch a flagship phone these days?

Samsung’s highly anticipated GALAXY S4 smartphone launches in New Zealand at 10:00am on April 27. And because we are “first to see the light”, local consumers will be the first in the world to be able to purchase the device. Other countries will also begin selling the GALAXY S4 at 10:00am – but only at their local time (on April 27).

Due to its geographical location New Zealand consumers will be the first in the world to purchase the device. Other countries throughout the world will also start selling the device from 10am their local time on April 27.

At launch the smartphone will be sold through selected retailers nationwide including Vodafone, Telecom and 2degrees and will come in two colours – Black Mist and White Frost.

Samsung New Zealand has also confirmed that only the 4G-capable 1.9 GHz Quad-Core Processor version of the device will be available locally. The device will also feature Navigon – a premium navigation service from GPS technology company Garmin.

joker97: not sure if been discussed but how is the screen? more the good ness of Note 2 or the badness of s3 or none of the above?

also anyone knows if the dac is wolfson?

According to a few articles I've read recently, Wolfson have signed a multi-year supply deal with Samsung. This means it's almost certain that the S4 will have a Wolfson DAC.

This will apply for the Exynos version - I'm not sure if the snapdragon one will have it, because as far as I am aware, snapdragon chipsets use Qualcomms own DAC (which is good, but not as good as Wolfson). I would be happy to be proven wrong, but I would advise us music nerds to double check to confirm.

Asrafrate: I'd be tempted if they did something about the battery :/

Beast like that is going to be power hungry.

But then, these are un-official. Things can change.

A review for a 4 - 5 days battery life for an S3, I wouldnt be surprised if they do it for the S4, S5 etc - all for the price of $33.00 from amazon.

Here is the link to the review etc. Pity aboot the weird semi candian accent eh? http://www.gottabemobile.com/2013/04/14/samsung-galaxy-s3-extended-battery-delivers-4-days-of-battery-life/ This would make a smart phone worth having.

4.6 out of 5 stars on Amazon.

Makes it look like the brick my father in law used to carry around 10 years ago. Pass.

I'd rather carrying around 1-2 2600Mah Batteries and use them as required or a portable charger.
