hairy1: It looks like it is coming in at the same price as the original Nexus. I also got one for the wife from the Warehouse. Pretty nifty size wise. I got a case from here. I will post a small review on the case when it turns up.

Cheers, Matt.

Have you got a link to the one you ordered? I had a look on Amazon and the one I ordered was pretty much a clone of the Blurex one here which had good reviews.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

I have a rooted Nexus 7 and I get notified of updates. I try to install the updates but when it reboots to install it, the update fails. Any one else have this problem with a rooted Nexus 7?

Cheers

Yup you'll have to download the manual updates from google and flash them.

Cool, so that is through Clockwork Mod recovery, using install from sdcard technique? Flashing the update.zip or whatever it is called?

Does this wipe it? I am assuming it doesn't since the normal updates don't, but I thought I'd ask to be sure.

Cheers

EDIT: yep, confirmed. I just read this link here http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/10/09/how-to-update-your-nexus-7-to-android-4-1-2-jzo54k-with-stock-or-custom-recovery/. Thanks again!

That is a very good deal. I thought $319 at the Warehouse was good but that also had $5 shipping in it. I have only just started to play with my unit (well it's for the wife) and I am really impressed with the clarity of the display. 7" isn't too small in retrospect.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Good to know about the size, was thinking it was a little on the small size but the problem is getting my hands on one only a few left in hornby it seems

Mine came with a semi-faulty charger. It won't charge the N7 but will charge my GN. And the GN charger will charge the N7.

Anyway that's not good enough so I have asked the Warehouse to see if they can ship out a new charger. I can't do a store return since I am not sure they were sold in the stores and anyway I only want the charger, not a new device.

I just bought another one as a present, a 16GB. Went to Noel Leeming to get it, first store was out of stock, so I had to go to another store that only had three left. $359, not a bad price, after reading the above... not as cheap as DSE!

Anyone here how much more for the 3G variant? If and when it arrives...  :)

And on a sidenote, my 32GB has just updated itself to 4.2.1

GPS work in Google Maps still?

If not, enable: Settings -> Accounts -> Google -> Location Settings -> Let Google apps access your location

Seems that for a few people this gets disabled when 4.2.1 is applied.

Hello all,

Looking at asking a friend of mine to bring back a Nexus 7 3G model from the USA in the next couple of weeks.  As per their information on the Google Store site, it does specify that the version is 'unlocked'.  Does this mean that it would be pretty much the exact same version that has come onto the NZ market and would be able to be used on 2degrees and Vodafone etc?

I take it that it would, however would just like to see if anyone could confirm this.

Kind regards,
