jonb: It looks like a great phone and I may get one myself, but for comparison I bought a Lumia 520 for $122, and a Huawei 300 for $60 in the boxing day sales.  The Huawei does the job as an entry level phone for most people, and the Moto G does a great job as a mid range phone.

You're comparing sale prices to RRP though, which isn't really a fair comparison.  Lumia 520 RRP is $199; for what it's worth the Huawei Ascend G300 RRP was $299 on release in 2012.  The Y320 is still available at major retailers at $149, but it's truly low-low end - I'd argue that the specs are so low that it renders it useless as a smartphone.

NZtechfreak: Man, awesome it's coming here. Wonder where the 'only WP is worth it at the low end' folks are gonna go crying to now.

They will be happy with saving $70 odd and getting a 520! Or they could spend another $50 at 2 degrees and get an ATIV s with SD card support and an HD screen scratch that, the ATIV S can't really compete it only offers an SD card, .3" bigger screen and slightly better camera. This is a lot of Android for the price though. Glad to have Motorola back with a vengeance.

I don't think $299 is low end for most people. $100 is low end to me, but definitely under $200 dollars.   $299 is firmly in the mid-range.

Seems that the comments on http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2181867&p=16 that its not a cheap phone at all.

It mentions that JB HiFi has them over there but nothing on there web site.

And it seems that Jan 21 is the date for a number of countries.

Seems like its being shipped as a none carrier branded  phone by http://www.brightstarcorp.com/

So unless there is a TV advert no one seems to know.

It seems the stores that are supposed to have this phone on shelves tomorrow have no idea about it...bit of a concern!

My local 2degrees said they'll have it Feb 3rd for the 8gb, dual sim model. Standard $299 pricing.

Thanks, wonder if that means the 16gb will unavailable or if available, priced at $350, in which case...it's off to youshop!

Just don't think I could handle 8gb!  I'm always running out of space on my Trophy....

agree 100%, and no microSD slot? That is the killer for me. Sure, you get 8gb + 50gb google drive.  But, 3g charges for 50gb would be thousands and you got buy yourself a whole bunch of iphones and high end androids for the cost of data in a couple of months.

Would highly recommend this store if you're after 16gb.

http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/astore/Moto-G-16GB-Dual-Sim.aspx

Ordered many lenses from them and they've been great. In fact, I ordered one recently late on a Thursday night. It was delivered the following Monday morning, that was standard shipping too.

Decent exchange rate to AUD at the moment too.

They also deal with warranties.
