The blue tint is there when you first boot up, but after the 8.1 update you turn on the satured colours it's not very noticeable anymore

The package was held up in customs for about 3 weeks. That was an ordeal and a very inefficient process getting NZ Post to act as a "customs broker" and it often took a day or 2 to get responses from them.
I also had to apply for this special import code with NZ Customs and Border because the value was over $1000.

Total GST costs, customs fees etc was $304.

I had a good look at the Pixel 2 XL when in Melbourne last week. Yes the blue tint is there, but it wouldn't bother me and I think the issue has been overblown. I liked the phone a lot, but the handset once I finally got to see it was just a little too big for me. Despite my early moaning about the bezel size in the Pixel 2, it looks great (in the black) and would be the Pixel I would buy.

I spent several years trying to convince my wife that the large phones are better. When she finally succumbed to my persuasion she now would not go back to a smaller one.

Yeah blue tint has been hugely blown out of proportion - definitely there but not a concern day to day use, you never notice it.

Also bezels are just fine, not too big or ugly in my opinion.

Handset is big, but if you're not using a case then it's just the right size for me, really easy to hold.

Can I ask from those that have bought from DSE, did you buy from them direct or their TradeMe listings? Reason I ask is the Tax & Duty portion. I see that they say that there are no Tax charges when bought direct from them, however that doesn't seem to be the case if I bought through TradeMe?

Bought it directly from DS. Didn't get stung for any charges, just tracked it through to my door..... I was worried too ??

I ordered a Pixel 2 XL off Dick Smith on Sunday and it 'shipped' yesterday. I noticed a few people talking about how bad the Toll tracking is and I wanted to share my discoveries.

From the start, Toll tracking has said that the parcel is coming from Mangere, Auckland which I thought was weird because I assumed it would come from Aus. I checked a few more Toll tracking numbers (they're consecutive so you can guess them) and it turns out, they all come from Mangere. A little research showed Toll has a Mangere branch. So I figured the tracking would update once the parcel hit our shores.

I was back to thinking it was coming from Aus until by chance I looked at the sales invoice that came in an email from Dick Smith. On here it mentions Kogan Hong Kong several times, which I don't think is mentioned on the Dick Smith site, even though they make it clear that they're Kogan. This makes sense right? It explains the long waits for parcels to arrive and it explains the cheap pricing. Can anyone confirm?

Anyway, just thought I'd share in case anyone was expecting a fast delivery from Dick Smith. Looking forward to mine arriving, but now with lowered expectations on when I'll see it.

I have been following this thread with interest, as I am wanting a pixel2 as well, the S9 doesn't meet it on the battery life (so I gather).

Whats Kogen, that people are so concerned about?

Yep, my Pixel 2 XL came from Dick Smith by way of Hong Kong.

I remember it turning up a lot quicker than I thought it might (maybe a week?). Pretty sure the Toll tracking only updated when the parcel hit my doorstep!

Kogan owns the Dick Smith brand now. Nothing particularly wrong with it other than I think it has been assumed that they are Australian based, when in actual fact they might be shipping from elsewhere. Generally it can then be assumed that shipping will take more than a day or two.

If you look carefully at the General Terms and Conditions on the DS site, there are two Dick Smiths, Dick Smith (otherwise known as Kogan Australia Pty Ltd) and Dick Smith Electronics (otherwise known as Kogan HK Ltd - a Hong Kong registered company). The Pixel 2's are supplied by Dick Smith Electronics (look near the bottom of the listing), so come from HK and are warranted by that company rather than the Aussie company. Same thing applies if you look at the Kogan site - Pixels are supplied out of Hong Kong.

Any Pixel 2 owners been able to source a decent USB-C audio adapter for AUX (or a cable) or USB-C headphones? The white Google one gets grubby pretty quickly and is quite poor quality in terms of sound. Seems to be a real mission finding something. Thanks, yea have got bluetooth headphones but sometimes it's handy to just plug earphones in. Audio quality isn't bad but have noticed it with decent headphones and even in the car - quality just isn't as good. Using wireless headphones generally but some cables like a 3.5mm aux to USB-C cable for example would be quite handy. The only ones available seem to be analog so won't work.

Called them and they actually can't tell me where it is. I offered to make the two hour round trip to pick it up, but they can't guarantee it's even there.

Great timing too with a long weekend ahead of us.

I feel for you. But I thought that kind of thing only happened to me.

I remember the frustration when I got my Nexus 6P via the Geekzone offer - people start posting about how they're starting to arrive, but mine doesn't - It feels like Christmas is put on hold, or maybe cancelled till next year!
