webup: do i then need to use the phone or open it before arriving back here so i dont pay gst here on bringing it in?

That's up to Customs, usually they won't hassle you but if it's been opened and used there's probably less chance of them trying to ping you for it. You can actually open and use the item before you get to the airport (unlike duty free goods), you just need to have purchased it less than 30 days before you leave.

I think you can use it prior, but bring the box and all accessories/original packaging and documentation on to the plane with you in hand luggage.

I might even buy it online now from the Australian site and have it sent to my friends house.

It doesn't hurt to have the boxes with you, but I've claimed an SLR, lense & camera bag before which wasn't in its original box (it was in the camera bag).

Lols. My friend bought a regular SDHC instead of a Micro SDHC after he got his one.

I heard you can just cut the SDHC card with some scissors so you can use it in microSD slot Wink

Nice re the DSU Au price and I have a mate going to Melbourne this weekend!

When is the X6 expected to arrive though?

PS:  This will be my first Android phone - what are the major/best websites to get started on what it can do.  Upgrading from a iphone 3G

Cheers

PB Technologies have a pretty good price for the X5 and the trade price for those eligible, although not as good as Aussie, isn't too far away.
