So what ROM version are you showing now?

Dingbatt: Considering I will need to take a nandroid and titanium backup, uninstall Xposed and reload the stock bootloader before doing the update, I'm not really in a huge hurry. I tend to completely back up the phone before applying anything major these days.

Really? That's a lot of effort to go to....I don't bother with backups pre-OTA updates...they're usually pretty safe, and I've never had any issues. Same goes with Xposed - I've been able to apply OTAs with Xposed installed before - worst case you have to re-install, but that's not a huge issue unless you're using LOTS of modules. Usually all I need to do is re-flash the stock recovery, and then go back to CWM or TWRP afterwards, that's all.
Can I ask why you've replaced the stock bootloader?

Dingbatt: That's a shame you have had that run of issues. The next few weeks should be pretty exciting for phone buffs with IFA and the preannouncements that accompany it, and the unveiling of the iPhone6. Indeed the Note4 might be a more viable option for some if there are some decent smartwatches announced as well.
I am hoping my M7 will soldier on through to next year when, hopefully, there will be an M9 to consider.

I think the M7 will be with me until mid next year also. It's a nice device, doesn't at all feel slow and I don't need to stuff around with it to get updates. Android L should bring a breath of fresh air, but I don't know if I'll be buying the HTC M9, especially if they continue with onscreen buttons / double (triple) chin.

Because the boomsound speakers are a feature that defines the M series, there will probably be a double chin/forehead until they ditch it as a design concept. I believe onscreen buttons are here to stay, partly because that is the push from Google. The launch of the HTC One for Windows is a case for not having hardware buttons, as one set of specs can be used for more than one OS. Only Samsung is big enough to do what it likes. Why else do they (alone) put their micro USB ports the opposite way round to everybody else?
