freitasm: I have two mail accounts... On my HTC One I have two homescreen shortcuts, going directly to each account, showing different unread counters. IIRC when I created a Mail shortcut it asked which account to show. This doesn't seem to work on the samsung S5?

Haven't used Samsung's email app in a while, but on S III/Note II-era Touchwiz, there was an option in the widget menu (Long press multitasking on the S5 or long press on an empty homescreen area, then tap widgets) to add individual email account icons with badge counters. Doesn't seem to be there on my Note 3, although I don't have any accounts set up in Samsung email.

I quite dig Samsung's badge counters, particularly the way Facebook has embraced the badge counter API for the Facebook & Messenger apps. Twitter did as well, though it never seemed to work reliably.

Have seen loads in PBtech, believe JB HiFi & Harvey Norman have stock as well. The official ones are easily spotted as they've got a big 5 on the front.

I am testing sending MMS to my wife (I am on Vodafone, she's on 2degrees) and noticed some messages not arriving. It seems not all images are correctly resized and get blocked at some point.

Has anyone come across a suitable dock for the S5 ?

I have a couple which I was using for my S3 neither of which are compatible with the S5 given the change to the pin / port setting, which is a bit of a pain.

Would be interested to know what people are using.

After a day with the S5, I am very impressed with it. The battery life is insane, will be looking at about 6+ hours screen time today.

The only thing I miss from the HTC One is the amazing speakers. Also the settings menu is an abomination but I'll get over that.

Really happy having made the switch so far.

The settings menu is ugliest thing around.

You can switch back to list view as I have done, but they've removed the quick toggles from Wifi and Bluetooth, instead you add quick settings, which just duplicates a setting entry at the top of the page. Hopefully that will get fixed in a future update. The tabs layout is just silly.

Yes, I saw that.

On another note... Has anyone noticed problems sending MMS?

I have mine on Vodafone and wife's Windows Phone is on 2degrees. Up until now (Windows Phone to Windows Phone) I didn't have any problems. Switched to the S5 and now about half of the MMS I send don't reach her handset, while all of her MMS to me arrive correctly.

No error messages but I've noticed some photos consistently fail and some consistently succeed. I wonder if the S5 is not correctly resizing the images before sending.

I was going to suggest this in the other thread, switch your default app to Hangouts and try sending MMS via that. Should tell you if the problem is the app or the phone.

Yep, both of the problem photos send ok via Hangouts. Blame Android for being buggy.

freitasm: A Blocking Mode question: If I turn Blocking Mode ON and check the features I wanted blocked it immediately display the blocking mode icon in the top, regardless of the Set time parameter I have there (21:00 - 08:00). It that how it's supposed to work?

Yes, it shows the blocking icon when enabled regardless of your blocking settings. I started using blocking on my S3 (and now S5) and it's awesome. From 11pm until 6am all notifications and calls are blocked except for my favourites list.  Very useful :)

BuffyNZ: So nobody else is having problems with charging?

I have found that most of my external batteries will not charge the phone.

The charge icon does not appear when these batteries are connected.

The same batteries will charge my Galaxy S3, my kindle, etc using the same battery and cable.

Also my USB car charger will not charge it either.

I am trying to work out if I have a faulty phone.

Anyone else in ChCh willing to meet up and let me try my battery?

Yes!  I have seen some odd things with charging from day one.

I have two Sony battery sticks and they will charge the S5 partially as opposed to almost fully charging the S3 - they seem far less effective on the S5.

The S5 definitely wants to pull at a higher current (2A+).

What battery packs are you using?

The problem is many USB batteries do not properly impliment USB charging, and just shut right down when the current is too high rather than being a constant current power supply limiting the current to their maximum output. Same thing happens on the note 3 on most USB packs. Worse is some that dont current limit properly and end up with the voltage bouncing around all over the place and the phone will display charging, get warm, but not actually deliver a decent amount of juice to the battery.
