The Z1's camera improved enormously with a few updates - a colleague uses one for work, and gets some stunning shots with it - so I'd expect the Z2's to be at that level straight out of the box.

Do wish they'd add a little more differentiation on the software side, and (of all minor criticisms) I'm not a fan of this year's Sony Stock Wallpaper Tee Emm as I have been the Z's & Z1's, but whatchagonnado.

I like the idea of the Z2 screen it sounds great but given the design hasn't changed much and I didn't like the feel of the Z1 it didn't sit well in hand as the S4 and HTC One.

NikT:

At this point, there's a lot of marketshare that could be Sony's for the taking. Hope this does well.

The only problem with this is the fact they hardly ever release anything in the US.
I hope this changes, but I doubt it, with the Z1s just being released now on t-mobile only.

And dinosaurs are always awesome! ;p

And at least the Xperia Z2 is actually waterproof compared to the S5 which is only water resistant. Think this may be my next companion, if HTC can't come up with anything special this March! :)

That's only a problem for the mainstream US tech press and the wider sentiment they inform. If nothing else, it keeps their UK correspondents employed. :P

?

It's much of a muchness, they're both rated for 30mins in fresh water.

The z2 is IP 58 so it can be continuously immersed in water up to 1.5m

IPX 7 - 'immersible' (Samsung S5) vs IPX 8 - 'submersible' (Xperia Z2)

My only requirement for a water resistant smartphone is that it be able to play podcasts while I'm in the shower. ;)

Pfft.. that's easy and doesn't really require a "water resistant smartphone." :)

Just get a portable speaker and connect it up to your phone, then place it outside the shower, maybe on top of the vanity, and play!

First thing I did when I got mine was fill the sink and throw it in... then I took photos of the dog from underwater in the bath. :D

Tried that, flatmates complained, so I'm out of entertainment until I'm able to play something 'inside' the shower (Not my fault they have the world's strangest sleep patterns and don't consider 8am a reasonable time to start work ;) ).

Worked wonders with the Z1!

Is this phone coming out in NZ?

I don't see it being mentioned on the Sony website and none of the Telcos have it listed either.

The Z and Z1 did so it's a safe bet the Z2 will as well.
