nzkc: Isnt this all a bit counter productive by TV3? They want our eyes on the screen so they can push adverts to us and get paid more. And the industry wonders why so many people torrent shows and movies!
Behodar:freitasm: But this? Sigh...
Well anyone that's rooted their device is clearly a pirate and probably has probably stolen a couple of cars too, so it's only fair to punish them. I think that's what that infamous piracy ad was trying to teach me anyway...
uglyb0b: Having root access allows you to set up ad blockers - could be why the app doesn't work. Why bother wasting bandwidth on a device that doesn't give them any ad revenue?
sbiddle:
But the companies they're buying content on insist that DRM be in place before they can offer solutions such as this app. They're only doing what they're being forced to do by the content owners.

I dont buy this myself. TV3 could make the adverts part of the stream so you have to watch them regardless of what ad blockers you run.

freitasm: Hilarious. Years ago when Windows vista came out some people made waves because HDMI and digital content used DRM technologies - at the end of day it didn't prevent anyone actually using a PC for much and pretty much everyone with HDMI today can play anything and no one is impacted by that DRM.
But this? Sigh...
