Looks pretty comparable to the S7 and certainly an appreciable upgrade to their last two flagships.

Compared to the S7, it's lacking waterproofing and wireless charging. It's also non AMOL.

On the positive, it's got a slightly larger screen and type C USB.

And you've got to wonder, HTC's also in a pretty perilous financial position, so will they still be around in 12 months time to provide updates?

OK, a couple more positives for the 10 over the S7, better speakers and support for hi res audio.

Biggest plus is easy to unlock the bootloader, root and your warranty is still in tact

This, if anything, would be the reason to get the 10. Although there is less reason to root for ROMing I am still frustrated by some of the restrictions put in place within android (access to mobile data toggle for instance).
HTC have made a positive step by not doubling up on core apps. Now if they could only take the final step and separate OS from radio from skin so that timely updates are possible by bypassing the mobile providers approval testing.

Edit : Pricing likely to start at $1200 (imo) and quickly drop by 10% and settle at about $960 when sales don't match the S7. This is what has happened for the last three iterations.

Dingbatt: IP53. Bit of a shame that is not water or dust proof. There seems to always be something that stops their flagship being perfect.
Seems no one is interested in ir receivers/blasters any more either.
Quite nice styling still and it will be interesting to see some real world reviews of Sense 8.

I have been an HTC fan for a long time but not sure if there's enough to draw me away from my S6. Time will tell.

Fair points. However being Water + Dust proof isn't high up on my wants list, it seems like it is yours though. I never really go swimming, nor do I ever take my phone out during rain so for me personally, I can live without it.

Yes, I just checked back to the thread Mauricio started when this handset was rumoured back in January and was called the One M10. I did indeed include waterproofing on my wishlist. It is obviously achievable, and we are talking about flagships here.

I think the reason why there's no water resistant phones with USB type C is that there isn't an open port that meets this rating. Hopefully this will change soon!

I don't see any information about Spark or 2 Degrees either so it'll be interesting to see whether HTC will simply sell it straight to consumers through Noel Leeming and/or an online store. Personally I would prefer a non-carrier branded phone with updates straight from HTC rather than being beholden to the carriers.

Seems like it has received some positive press so far. The two big let downs in the M9 from many reviewers was the camera and the buggy/poorly optimised Android which was later corrected with updates but you really only have one chance to make a good impression and HTC blew it that time. So far the camera has received lots of positive praise, it is inline with the S7 and iPhone and the software is actually pretty good this time - the battery life comparison is in the aforementioned link is rather meaningless given that the amount of time is dependent on a whole host of factors - some reviewers have said up to 2 days and others have said 3/4 to 1 day so in the end I'd take 'battery life' tests with a bucket of salt. For me the big decision is whether to go for a Nexus 6P or a HTC 10.
