Thanks, already signed up for that. I also have access to the Government employee discounts so wondering if there may be a deal through there. Probably not on a new launch but worth checking

Going a bit off topic now but the experience also highlighted some difficulty setting up the new phone without being able to use the previous one - trying to verify the google account was a challenge as it wanted to send a notification to the previous phone which I obviously couldn't use to receive it. There was a text code option but it wouldn't receive on the new phone without it being setup - eventually managed to get the code by putting my sim into my wife's work phone. How do you get back into your account if your old phone is broken and you don't have access to another old one to receive the verification notification?

These days with chargers around the house, wireless charging in the car and a battery pack for when I am on the move, battery life is no longer an issue.

It would be an issue if you are no where near a power plug all day.

I'm often not near a power plug (at least one I can free up), & further more I'm often moving about with my phone than sitting still in one place. We've also experienced many occasions where I live where the power has been out for several hours. Unless you own heaps of battery packs (which also diminish their capacity over time) then it's definitely a problem. I expect better, especially for the price. Hence considering Apple if Samsung don't do better with their flagships.

The 20,000mah portable battery pack I got for around $100 charges just as fast as my 45w wall plug, or at least very close to it. I would highly recommend you get one because no one battery will be enough... really :)

Make sure you add a secondary email as verification to your account for that exact reason.

Thanks. Just double checked and I do have my main email address setup as that (I only use the Gmail for the Google account). It didn't seem to give me that as an option in the setup though.

Yeah I actually have four 20,000mah battery packs. Per my points above, they're not an ideal solution day to day, though invaluable in emergencies like power cuts or being away from a power supply for an extended period. They're not cheap, they're a nuisance to carry around attached to the phone when you're not sitting still in one place, & they lose capacity over time just like the phone battery.

Don't think I ever needed to use a battery pack for my Note 9, except for once when the power was out for 2 days. Probably would have got away without it, except I wasn't on a full charge when the power went out. The S22U however... if I'm out for the day I am forced to carry one.

I'm dead keen on the violet colour. Had enough of black phones and the S23 FE is too purple-ish.

Having said that I'd like to see them in person before I commit. Hopefully we see some in Spark/2Degrees etc before the formal delivery dates so I can play with one.

Based on recent years stores usually have them on display a day or two after announcement.

Sweet. That's the go then. First flagship where I will also have access to the Samsung partner program as well.

Might get this cause my S21's CSC I've found is in the US. Had to manually flash it myself since it was stuck on a security patch in 2021. Doesn't help that post flash the CSC is still in the US.

OneUI 6 is pretty good though.

Flatter (Not flat) screens too, which I am in favour of. Fitting a screen protector is a PITA on a curved screen and they never really did it for me (despite owning every flagship).

Curved screens are stupid. They are nice in a tech demo but serve no really useful purpose.

I’ll never have a curved screen phone again. A folding phone maybe but certainly not a curved phone.

All this talk about AI and how most of these AI features are coming to the S23 as well, this may be the smallest upgrade in history for most.

Yes there's talk about 8k recording at a higher frame rate but I suspect just 1% would use or even care about it.

Let's see. 5 days to go!

I am really unsure why Samsung have persisted with it for so long to be honest.

The issue for me is there are no other phones with a pen stored inside. I don't use it much, but when I want or need it I'd hate to be without it.

I've never used the pen ever for its intended purpose, lol. The only time I use it is to take photos hands free which is awesome.

Another rumour is that the S24 series will have security and OS updates for 7 years. Great for the second and third hand markets.

I can't remember if S23 had the Samsung online exclusive colours last year, the rumored online exclusive colours this year are green, orange and blue, it'd be interesting to see if we get any at all in NZ.
