it may not be the best idea to apply voodoo to doc's rom as it already has lagfix options in the advanced CWM menu built into the rom. I remember reading in the thread that in the past they recommended to use the built in option (based on voodoo) rather than installing voodoo over the top of the rom.

I found the apk for this and it seems to work... there is no firmware update options in it but for viewing and transferring photos etc it seems to be pretty good

I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.

My son just did a firmware update via KIES and his phone has gone into a reboot loop. Phone hasnt been rooted but he did do the registry patch a while ago to get 2.2 onto it. Anyone else had this issue and found a fix?

I have HTC Desire HD and found I cant see screen outside and also a bit large. Yesterday bought the Samsung Galaxy S and it locked up within 5 minutes and when selecting an app it would switch off and restart.  Took it back and got another one today, so far so good.  Updated to android 2.2 froyo through Kies.  I can actually see the screen no problem outside and still large screen but very light.  Still prefer HTC Sense but guess will get used to touchwiz.  Like my desire hd, gps is accurate without sim card in.  Insert sim card and gps shows my position 2 kms away. Guess must be vodafone cell tower.

You can replace the Touchwiz launcher with any number of more customisable launchers (lookup LauncherPro) if you don't like it.

Can the phone get into recovery or download mode (volume up+home+power from off)?

ADW Launcher is very like the HTC Sense UI from what I can tell, I love it

I haven't used ADW Launcher as I love the scrolling widgets in Launcher Pro Plus (especially the Friends Twitter/Facebook one). I have heard that ADW has themes though which sounds quite cool.

Gsmarena just did a review of all the screen technologies and really slammed the LCD screen in the Desire HD in comparisson to the super amyloid in the galaxy s.  I havn't compared them in real life yet.

Thank you guys, I am leaning toward ADW after seeing youtube but just concerned some say it crashes but that was back february to may so maybe later version okay. Maybe I flip the coin between the 2.
Thanks

Well thankfully you aren't locked in to either one. Get Home Switcher and you can easily switch between them!

does home switcher support 2.2 now, because it never used to. if it doesn't you can change the home launcher under the phones settings -> manage applications menu

Is there an option to Factory Reset (which would put it right back to square one if I understand correctly)?

Had you tried pulling the battery and leaving it for a minute or two and then putting the battery back in, just in case it got it's knickers in a twist and needed to be left for a bit?
