dakie: Any idea how to check if 4G is active on my note 3? I have the 4G simcard and can make and receive calls,am based in central wellington but I am getting speedtest results of 2.06Mbps down 0.06 up which I thought would be higher.
Connection symbol shows as H+

H+ will change to 4G if you are on LTE.

Thanks for that, issue was that I had not done the firmware update, as soon as I had done that and restarted I get the 4G and then Download 71.59Mbps and Up 32.84Mbps

If only I could get those speeds at home on Broadband

Mono: I'm in the same situation, dakie, Note 3 in central Wellington and still H+ rather than 4G. Called Telecom and they transferred me to three different people, then the last one disconnected me, called me back, and told me to pull out the battery and restart (didn't work).

were you mailed out a 4G sim to replace your old sim?

anyway the service is only hours old - you could give it a chance :) there may be some towers that were not fully enabled to cover where you are at currently.

Haha, yeah, I'm not that cut up about it - I'm honestly not sure if 4G will make any difference to how I use my phone anyway! Yes, I did get a new 4G sim though. I just checked my receipt before though and it seems that Warehouse Stationery sold me a 2degrees Note rather than a VF note - so possibly the 2degrees firmware just doesn't allow 4G...

richms: I called Samsung about mine and apparently I have a Vodafone note 3 from vnz in the csc and I need to try a Vodafone sim to see if I get 4g.

FFS wasn't told I was buying a locked to Vodafone when I bought it.

Hey rich,

Vodafone doesn't lock Galaxy Notes - The reason this will likely be happening is that Samsung devices enable/disable certain features at boot based on the SIM card that's inserted. Until now, Telecom has not been a 4G network operator, so 4G has been disabled when Telecom SIM cards have been inserted. A future software update from Samsung will likely update the operator feature list & enable 4G for the Telecom profile.

Unsure exactly when that will be, I'll keep an eye out & let folks know when we've got the info.

Hmm... That's good to know. Might have to investigate further then. Maybe I'll just wake up tomorrow and it'll be magically working!

Mono, do the firmware update, that got 4G working for me.

Hi guys,

I am looking to get my wife a pink N3 from Expansys NZ, would like to know your experiences with these guys and most importantly if you have been hit with GST at custom when ordering from them?

Thanks in advance

The firmware update turned out to be the latest MJ6 firmware. Still Android 4.3 of course. But it does not fix the Knox notification shield error upon changing Wi-Fi zones. Damn. Ah well. Changelog:

N9005 UDMJ6 Changelog:

Wi-Fi Firmware Update
Enhance the clipboard function, support Youtube 5.1 version
Fixed compatibility problems NFC connections
Enhanced Keyboard performance for writing and reading
Improve browser performance
Reactivation lock enables to turn ON and OFF
Fix S Pen input
Update S Note application

Apparently stock keyboard is much improved, but I'm a Swype user, so means not much to me. Wonder if I will notice any SPen/ Wi-Fi improvements :)

Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005, on Telecom 4G LTE.  ROM: Stock Touchwiz, Android 4.3, XUDMJ6  MODEM: MJ4  Kernel: Stock (for now...:)

Thanks for the information, i have the same issue here. Bought a VNZ note 3, with a Telecom 4G sim card, but still on H+ connection.

I'm just annoyed as I assumed I was getting an unbranded note 3 and not a Vodafone one.

Is there a hidden menu to turn it on like there was on the s2 to turn off 2 when on a 2g/3g network?
