Plus, you'll discover that android has a really useful set of things not found on Windows phones ...
... they're called apps (-;
Lol, I knew someone would say that
sidefx:
Also the wealth of apps available compared to Winphone is nice.
:P

(I must admit, I missed seeing that sentence in your original post)
And last year's Nexus at less than 1/3 the price of the entry level pixel!
Yup can't argue with that price :) though I think they've overpriced the pixels (they look like cool phones though)
The only thing I really would have liked is if the 5x was waterproof\resistant... If this Android experience works out well (and all signs so far are good!) I might look at upgrading to an xperia or something like that soonish.

lookout: Has anyone found a physical store (Auckland) who sell 5x cases? I'm going to get one this weekend but really want to put it straight into a case.
PBtech should have them

1 in stock in penrose, suggest you order it tonight should ship tomorrow get to you Monday, or go in tomorrow and get it
Got mine from a mall kiosk (not Auckland) but I am sure the ones in Auckland would too
I've had a Nexus 5x for a little over a year. I still really like it. The fingerprint sensor is great, and I really like the integration with Android Pay (I'm UK based).. now that USB-C is becoming more common I can get more things. Initially there were very few cables that were all overpriced and not all that much variety. I can now easily source a shorter cable for a charge bank from a place like Amazon.
My biggest gripe is RAM. They were too stingy, 2GB means I do notice lag more often than I should. They really should have put at least 3GB in, ideally 4GB.
Also, the 'power button issue' that has plagued the Nexus 5 is also an issue with the 5X. I had to return my handset to Amazon to get it repaired after 11 months. (they elected to replace it by their choice)
Also, I don't find the battery life all that great. I find I need to charge it in the middle of the day most times. Screen drain seems to be a big contributor.

I'm in Wellington & lower hutt, and the 4G coverage seems to be pretty good. Haven't noticed it flake out yet.
Depends where you live.
In rural areas where 4G is on 700MHz it's a big deal for data users. It is also my observation 4G is better then 3/3.5G(On 900Mhz) due to it's lower frequency. Thus, Vodafone is better for data users outside urban/city areas then 2degrees, which does not have any 700 spectrum.

The camera on my Nexus 5x 32Mb worked perfectly when I was using A6.xx. I upgraded to Android 7 in October, then to 7.1.
Since then I cannot use the default camera, or other camera apps I tried. Occassionally it works once, then does not work again and brings up an error message "cannot connect to camera", or sometimes causes a re-start. Very ocassionally a re-start brings the camera to life, but usually only for one instance.
I've just done an OTA upgrade to Android 7.1.1 hoping that that would solve the problem - but it does not. Still gives the same results.
Some commentators have said to uninstall apps which link to the camera. I've done that without results.
Has anyone else had a similar experience, or has been able to solve the problem?
In all other respects I find the Nexus 5x (especially with A7.1.1) a very good device in all respects.
Have a happy Christmas!

Try resetting it (will delete your data so backup). If you still have the issue then it might be hardware related.
Thanks for comment.
I've tried resetting the phone but that does not fix the "camera won't connect" problem. As long as others have not experienced this problem with 7.1.1 it seems that it is a hardware issue, if so I will consider buying another 5x if I can find one at a good price.
Pokemon Go and limited RAM on this device makes switching between apps a no go zone; can't even use AR mode in the game anymore because as soon as the camera is launched, it closed PoGo.
However running the game on the Nexus 4 caused no issues (same amount of RAM) so I am wondering if either the later versions of PoGo use more RAM, or Android 7.1.1 is the culprit.
Since the 7.1.1 update, my 5x has been spontaneously restarting every few days and sometimes the lock-screen pin buttons don't work, although tapping the tick always seems to work. A restart fixes the latter, so it’s a good thing the phone doing that itself every so often!
I'm not sure who has the best deals on these at the moment, but I ended up getting my Nexus 5X from dicksmith.co.nz - which doesn't appear to ship from inside NZ, so you need to be careful with potential GST owing when the phone gets to New Zealand.

Ordered 15-Jan-2017 for $389.00 plus delivery.
Total payment = $398.99
Received 20-Jan-2017 and installed the android 7.1.1 update. Now I need to get a nano SIM before I can use it on the vodafone network.
Already have USB-C cables, but need to look at the options for covers.
