For example for a 128G Pixel 6 they are offering $250 trade-in.

And say if want to move from the dark side, an iPhone 13 Pro 128 gets $485.

The challenge is Google seem to detect reshipper like Youshop and block orders being sent to them. Plus it's not clear how to a send phone back to them from here since NZ Post won't allow phones to be sent in the mail. Probably need a friend going over to take it for you.

I just read you shop policy regarding lithium iron batteries and it appears a single li battery in a phone in original packaging does not need to be declared. Possibly they have staff who don't read their own policy

I was more thinking about how to send a phone back to Google for the trade-in. Sending new phones from Youshop is not an issue.

Last time I had to send a Kindle with a lithium battery to the USA I had to use New Zealand Post Express courier and properly declare the contents. It's absolutely ridiculous, it can get here on an $12 courier but it costs $120 to get back. Fortunately, Amazon paid for return shipping because it was faulty.

It must be NZ Post regulations. When you buy a phone from Amazon, how do they ship it to you? What is NZ Post worried about that other couriers who used planes also, are not so concerned/

I so badly want to get this phone and get back on to Android, but the one thing giving me pause is the Apple Watch Ultra. It comfortably slaps around anything Android has to offer...why Apple gotta lock up their walled garden.

I remember why I hate Apple so much now, trying to move everything across and now I cannot receive texts from an iPhone, even after deregistering my number from iMessage and turning it off on the old phone first.

Be careful with mmWave variant as they are telco locked since they are only available for purchase through telco.

No, but this is an extra feature - not one that replaces 5G that you can get in NZ. As long as the phone isn't telco locked it would still work in NZ

I'm looking at getting a Pixel 8 Pro next year - probably a 256GB version. Now that 5G and VoLTE work in New Zealand I am a happy man even if it does require one to buy it when going on a holiday or going through YouShop.

I doubt there will be mmwave anytime soon given that a fleas fart or stepping in front of a tree can wreck a mmwave signal - I'm sure for line of sight stuff it does an ok job but for everything else it is a solution in search of a problem.
