garvani: All the devices sold in NZ work on ALL networks. You have another issue. Put in your VF Sim and call 888 and they will be happy to get you working! Likely your APN Isn't correct.

It works fine in town on the 2100mhz network but Blenheim is classed as rural so once you leave the centre of town it goes to 900mhz.. the T model dosn't support 900mhz which is where im stuck.. But having read that thread im feeling a little better, but would love some confirmation

I am on xt and using a Vodafone model without any issues.....i.e. Vodafone 2100 / 900mhz. XT 850.

Many people on this forum are using vodafone and xt and vice versa without any of the issues you are experiencing.

Suggest you take up networkn's suggestion. It isn't the phone that is your problem.

You are reversed from me.. the vodafone model is the International model that supports everything. The telecom T model dosn't support vodafones 900mhz

This isnt the best website but its the only one i can find that will show the difference in bands supported

on the bottom of the box it will have beside HSDPA what frequencies it supports is 900 on their?

Plot thickens i peeled the sticker off and it does indeed say 900.. inserting *#0011# also confirms it is on 900mhz
Ive checked every setting, and they are correct. I took it closer to town so it would be on 2100mhz and it worked fine there. I tried my iphone 4 at home and that is ok.. Odd, it dosn't like 900 for some reason.

Well i get some GPRS internet if i try long enough.. got a speed test out of it finally, read em and weep! speedtest compared to what i got in town when i got the phone earlier speedtest2

Garvani: Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I am fairly sure the i9300T variant from Telecom has radio software that nobbles the 900MHz radio. This seemed to be the case in the S2. The usual fix was to find a radio modem from Vodafone Aussie as they run both 850 and 900MHz bands there.

This will require you to root your phone but thats easy (see details on Androidnz.net). I did this on an S2 and away it went.

Thats basically the conclusion i have come up with as well, which must be false advertising as 900mhz is listed on the back of the box, but good luck getting it to go.
Going to try and return it today.. fingers crossed.

Doubt you'll have a problem given the CGA and the fact it doesn't work as advertised on the box. You might have to find someone at the store who speaks geek though.
