JB Hi-Fi in Australia is selling the Pixel 8 for 899 AUD, with a $100 gift card. It's not clear when the discount ends, but the gift card deal lasts until the 27th (Monday). If you're travelling to Aus for Christmas (like me!) then this is probably the best deal available. I plan to use the gift card to buy a case for it, if they have any good ones.

MY new Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel Watch 2 arrived yesterday, so far I'm very impressed with the stock Android and integration with the watch.
Transfer of almost 100GB of data and apps from my old Oppo Find X3 Pro was much quicker than expected 😊

I use "bedtime mode" on the Pixel 8 to stop notifications, calls, etc at night. The regular lock screen during the day has the clock really large often over two lines, but when bedtime mode is on the clock is relatively small, and within a couple of hours of an alarm a floating alarm notification mostly covers the clock. Has anyone found a way to get a decently large clock onto the Pixel 8 bedtime mode lock screen?

I guess I could just stop using bedtime mode, but it's handy because it's automatic.

I have a Pixel 7a on an old Pixel Dock Gen 1

The clock is full size (If you turn off the settings that turns the screen off when it gets dark) and it enables DnD mode when docked without the bedtime settings.

So a G2 Dock probably would behave the same way.

Have been reading through but can't see anything explictly clear..

Can anyone confirm the networks that suppot VoWiFi on the Pixel 8? I'm currently on 2Degrees, but would swap just for this.

Poor cell coverage at my place so it's a must have for me

Definitely Spark has VoWiFi configured for the Pixel 8, in fact everything works as it should.
It's been a long time since my Nexus 5, I'm finally back to the stock Android experience 😊

Vodafone does not have VoWiFi. VoLTE / 4G / 5G appear to work correctly.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Spark and Skinny support vowifi on pixel 6 devices and up.
They are the only carriers with vowifi on pixels as far as I am aware.
(but remember Spark vowifi has no sms support currently)

anybody tried to use the Pixel 8 Pro thermometer?

It didn't work on the P8 as I guess it does not have the thermometer.

Yes you can not use the thermometer features if your mobile doesn't have a thermometer.

I was more interested in that even if you had the P8Pro was the function disabled by Geo like Pixel 4XL radar function or the P8 accident detection function

I finally got around to switching over to the P8. Nice phone.

On Kogan (One.NZ) my OnePlus 8 Pro would show VoLTE in the display when it was available. On the P8, there is no such display option but there is a option to turn it on which I have. But how can I tell I have VoLTE? I read somewhere that if you make a call and the data icon stays at 5G or LTE and doesn't drop down to 3G then you are using VoLTE. Is that the check?

Yeah that's basically it, Pixels don't show a VoLTE notification icon so you just need to check if the phone stays on 4G when making a test call

I've also noticed a little "HD" badge appears in the phone app during the call (2degrees with Pixel 8 Pro) so that's another way you can tell

Anyone know where MightyApe is getting their stock from? I know they've sourced Pixel phones from Japan in the past which is something I'd like to avoid

Ended up contacting MightyApe directly to find out, and the phone supposedly has US specs and is imported from Hong Kong. As Hong Kong doesn't get the Pixel 8 that still leaves open the question where exactly they're coming from, though really all I care about is that they're not the Japanese model.

Is anyone who has bought a Pixel 8 from MightyApe able to confirm its the US/International model rather than the Japanese one?

Answering my own question: The black Pixel 8 128GB from Might Ape is not the Japanese version. Ended up buying one from there rather than importing for cheaper so I'd have a warranty if something ends up going wrong with it.

So far its a solid upgrade from the Pixel 3. About the same size and noticeably faster.

Is this still the right method to enable VoWiFi on the Pixel 8 on One?
