For me I have been unable to send emails, I have a GMail, Hotmail (auto set up) and works own server using GMail SMTP. These all went through the set up test fine but don't actually send the emails. They stayed in the outbox for hours and disappeared but were never sent.

Any ideas? Do I need to use smtp.vodafone on all of them? I had Wifi on for half the time and off for the 2nd bit.

You just using the gmail app? what email client are you using?
I've actually only used the gmail app so far and had no issues..
I am not sure if vodafone interfere with port 25 or not haven't tested it.
Try changing the smtp port to 587, or 465 for ssl/tls you should be able to bypass vodafone if they are mucking aronud with port 25....which they probably are..
(were you using port 25?)

I am using the included email app so I can have my main 3 accounts in the same place, none of them are using port 25 though.

so my gmail SMTP is:

smtp.gmail.com
465
SSL and my uname and p/w

my hotmail smtp is:

smtp.live.com
587
TLS and my uname and p/w

both those settings picked up auto, test worked OK and receive mail fine.

Yeah because I want all three acounts on the same page, rather than opening 2 dif apps for dif accounts.

And at the end that's what Google wants people to think: why have multiple accounts. Let's all use GMail.

It annoys me on Android devices (other than the Galaxy, which I haven't touched yet) that you have separate databases for contacts, tasks, emails depending on the application, if not using Google's own. Try Moxier, RoadSync, Touchdown and each will have its own repository, separate from the phone's defaults.

I get about 700kbps down and about 800kbps up in Wellington by way of comparison. Will check next time I am in Martinborough. That is using speedtest.net, maybe there is a better way actually test the speed of the HSDPA?

Mine is using the speedtest app by the speetest.net guys, so same thing I guess. Cheers be interesting to see what you get.. enjoy the wine ;)

EDIT: No need! Just selected a dif server (CityLink in welly) and I get:

So what's the verdict i9000 v desire?

I read a recent review if these 2 bs the iPhone 4, and the desire came first followed by iPhone then galaxy.

What do you guys think? I currently use iPhone 3G but am on the lookout for something else.

All the reviews of seen galaxy is definitely better than desire.

Galaxy/Desire vs' iphone 4 can go either way, it's like comparing apples to oranges. The choice comes down to which platform you prefer, i think i'd prefer galaxy bc I am a tinkerer/geek when it comes to gadgets and I also don't like being forced to use itunes, and only being able to synch with 1 computer. Also I think galaxy will be a bit cheaper than iphone 4.

They aren't even in the same league. What review was that? someone that has shares in HTC?

Galaxy far better screen, bigger and super amoled. Desire has standard amoled which is almost impossible to see on a sunny day.

Galaxy full multitouch (not crippled like in desire)

Galaxy kills the desire in cpu and gpu performance and that is without even having froyo on it.

Galaxy has the potential to kill it in I/O.

They are different generation phones.
I came from a nexus one, I miss the trackball (for coloured notifications and the body)
