Just to follow up on my post about the Chinese language.

I decided to take the plunge and flash ICS on this phone.

I initially though that the O2 ROM would be good since it would at least come up on English so I could choose the other language. With some trepidation flashed the ROM, waited for the success message and the phone powered up, upgrade apps etc. and then had ICS. The startup animation has some O2 logo and the background wallpaper appeared to be some London landscape (not surprising I guess).

Success I thought and I went to select language only to find the same set that Telecom has - a whole bunch of language but no Asian language apart from Korean (not surprising given the phone is Korean).

That was annoying so I decided to flash the HK ROM. Again the flash went fine but this time on reboot there was no carrier logo or customisation and there was no upgrading apps message. Went into the language option and this time there were 2 Chinese language options (thank goodness), for simplified and complex form (mainland China and HK), English (UK, US) and Korean.

The phone seems to work fine after that with my putting it a 2D SIM and making and receiving a call successfully.

Has any one here upgraded their battery to larger mAh one? And are there any good ones that don't compromise the size of the SII?
I have noticed some of the thicker bats make the phone ulgy.

If I had too I could look at this. but are there any covers that fit this?
Feed back and experience most welcome. Also if there are any links to info I could read would be good too.

I use a pair of the Samsung 2000Mah batteries you've linked to. I paid about $110 for the pair from a New Zealand online store (can't remember which though, it was months ago...). I'd previously used the $10 Spiderfoot 3500Mah batteries, but they were too thick really and in the end the battery covers kept falling off.

This is a noticeable upgrade from the stock battery and I use this to charge them (about USD10 on Ebay with free shipping).

To get around the case problems I tend to use normal covers with the rear battery cover removed. It stretches slightly with a very small bulge over the battery(less than 1mm), but is otherwise unnoticeable. Sounds a bit rough, but the back of the phone is still protected nicely and it makes it easier to swap batteries out.
I've used a black one of these since I got my phone early last year and it's still going strong.

I use a Samsung official 2000mAh extended battery that came with a new back cover, it's only slightly thicker than the stock one and actually feels a lot nicer in the hand.

I have the official extended battery as well and I must say, it seems so natural that I feel Samsung should have made this battery the default. Here's why:

1. Way better battery life. This is a no-brainer. (Plus with decent a ICS ROM + Siyah kernel with Lulzactive governer == I never have to worry about battery again. :))

2. Camera is protected. Thanks to the new back cover, the camera doesn't directly touch the surface when you put the phone backside-down.

3. Phone looks better. The bottom-back portion doesn't jut out anymore.

4. Phone feels better as well. With the slightly increased weight, it doesn't feel cheap like a fake demo-phone. :)

Also, a note of caution to everyone else: do not buy cheap third-party batteries. If the price is too good to be true, then it generally is. These batteries are falsely advertised as high capacity, they have a short life and worse, they've been known to explode. If you must use a third-party battery however, the only brand(s) I would trust is Mugen/Momax.

Yep, I bought mine for around $80 something from H2Phone. There are also some sellers on Trade Me who stock them.

It is. They arrived within two days and were genuine parts. Mine cost $120.16 so the price had dropped a lot since then!
They also have the battery charger.
