In all honesty it is really hard to keep up with numbering/lettering of Samsung firmware releases. Like for example NZ Vodafone release is JP1/2. Europe Froyo releases were from JP1 to JPO.

American recent release is JL1, hence I've mentioned it.

Pays to check with someone who has the Telecom Galaxy. Sorry, might have confused you even more. hehe...

Haha, yep. Samsung annoys me sometimes. It would have been much simpler if they'd done a straight OTA update that worked. I might go and see what Samsung have to say.

EDIT. Turns out theres a new Kies under the GT-I9000T download section of Samsung, released on the 6th, we'll see if this makes a diff

Reporting in on my test of the Doc Rom 7.5.

I went back to JM9 using Odin. Did a factory reset. CWM then flashed the v7.5 ROM. Nothing unusual. All went smoothly.

In fact the only things that I consider a hiccup and can't explain are:
Unable to restore my backup of LauncherPro. It says it can't access the SD card, it's not available.
Bluetooth. I wasn't able to transfer a file to my phone. I had to again make my phone visible and grant a new access. Maybe that's to be expected.

Oh, and something I forgot to mention to Tricky in my PM. When I look at the Market and select "My Apps" only a handful of the apps I've got installed appear.

I found the phone a bit slower actually. So much so that I've gone and flashed Trasig's Advanced Voodoo, the same one I was using with Version 7.1. Under the usual Voodoo when I long pressed the screen to select a widget, the screen would go black while waiting for the widget menu to appear.

Others have said how much faster the phone is, though that's using a different kernel.

So that's it folks. No dramas. I would like to get LP to gain access to the SD but I'm not sure why it's done that, or how to fix it. It's happened just the once before using a Doc rom but was fine with 7.1.

Nah, after it booted up after using Odin it still showed an error with the MultiCSC vs OPS which I'd loaded. And after checking the product code it's XEU which is what Doc put in his rom.

Just had another check. It's all good. Maybe I was just too quick getting to the market after installing the apps from TB.

Check in App Brain under "my apps" if you've got two lists (top left corner). When I went from 2.1 to 2.2 and then 2.2 to 2.2.1 I ended up with a new list.

I'm almost convinced it doesn't - well not for the normal use of the phone. When JPY came out there was no CSC at all. Many reported they'd not had a CSC for a while. Doc's added XEU in (which is his country/carrier).

I guess it can't be the be all and end all. People will travel, move etc and need to be able to use their phones in other countries to that which it was purchased. Me for example. Optus phone living in New Zealand.

I don't know if it matters if you have to return your phone. But lets face it, most of us would have to reflash our original firmware if we needed to return the phone to remove all the lovely customisation we have of the latest and greatest ROM.

True - as you say, geography is becoming less relevant as technology advances; in many ways, CSC's seem to be something that Telco's are vainly hanging on to simply because they've always done so.

When I was running Doc's XXJPO, I'm pretty sure my CSC was XEU, and it didn't cause any issues with app availability etc. It does seem to be tied to the APN settings in some way, but once those are added in manually, or via APN Backup/Restore it doesn't seem to matter too much.

No difference whatsoever. I was hoping there might have been a little improvement, there was a hint it might improve. Nope. Might have to try that Lastsufo kernel. Not sure if I can grab that without having to flash a whole rom.

A lot of people on XDA are talking about flashing alternative kernals just over what you currently have. Aren't you on the good terms (;)) with Cypher_x on there, Neets? :P

Hey there, I'm getting a bit sick of waiting for this froyo update now and I'm considering applying a lagfix. What do you guys recommend and why. I don't really want to root my phone so was considering using the voodoo lagfix. My phone is a I9000T(Telecom), opinions and experience on voodoo and other lagfixes would be appreciated. Thanks
