Shrapnel: Hey there, I'm getting a bit sick of waiting for this froyo update now and I'm considering applying a lagfix. What do you guys recommend and why. I don't really want to root my phone so was considering using the voodoo lagfix. My phone is a I9000T(Telecom), opinions and experience on voodoo and other lagfixes would be appreciated. Thanks

If you have 2e recovery, just download the Voodoo lagfix update.zip, place it on your internal SD card, and apply it from there.

I've just come off using RyanZA's One Click Lag Fix, and it's not a patch on Voodoo IMHO.

If you're still on Eclair though, I'd seriously look at flashing a custom ROM. All of the kernel options with these have EXT4 lagfix's, but you may not even need a lagfix with them.

Wipeout: A lot of people on XDA are talking about flashing alternative kernals just over what you currently have. Aren't you on the good terms (;)) with Cypher_x on there, Neets? :P

Ahhh, well I haven't done anything to ruffle feathers, but I'm not on terms with anyone.

Let me know how you get on. I've found my Gmail isn't synchronising automatically. I have to press the refresh button.

I also noticed that when I select GPS in the drop down slider thingee, it doesn't show a GPS icon in the status bar (will be theme related is my guess). If I then open Navigon the icon appears in the status bar. Weird.

I wasn't running any lag fix on 7.1, nor am I on 7.5. I am finding 7.5 a little more hesitant than 7.1. I don't know that I can put my finger on it. It just doesn't appear to be as smooth to me. With that and my gmail not automatically synching, I'm thinking of flashing back to 7.1.

Thanks for the reply, so it says on the voodoo site that it works for the international version of the galaxy s , GT-I9000, so should it work for the I9000T?

If you want the telecom froyo update I've got it sitting on my computer, can upload it if you like. You will have to flash it through odin though.

Shrapnel, Voodoo is awesome. It doesn't need a root, but does give you a root after you install it if you get a SuperUser app from the Market. Also it give you ClockWorkMod recovery, which allows you to flash custom roms via .zip files.

However, I'm not sure if voodoo will work on 19000T mate. Can always ask the dev on the voodoo website?

However, I'm not sure if voodoo will work on 19000T mate. Can always ask the dev on the voodoo website?

Every rom/kernel I've come across has worked fine on my I9000T. As far as I can tell the only difference is the antenna is designed to pick up the 850 band instead of 900. Even most of the modems I've used have defaulted to 850 anyway.

If you dont want to flash through odin shrap I'd also recommend voodoo for the sharpness and sound fixes.

Yeah, I did a bit of "Research" and there was a coupla poeple saying that it didn't working soft bricking their phone and no one saying it did work so it's probably not worth trying. I did install ATK which actually helped alot though using a little a bit of the battery. I don't think I will be doing anything with odin and flashing roms yet, not worth the risk for me. Thanks for every ones help!

@Shrapnel - this would be the best option if you're unsure about custom ROMs working with your i9000T - just flash the packages through Odin as Wazz says, and then flash the Voodoo kernel after that, which will give you the lagfix, Root access through Superuser, and 2e recovery so you can use Clockworkmod to do full backups.

Yes, that's what I expected. My earlier comment was more along the line of I hadn't yet looked to see if I could grab the Lastsufo one as a CWM file. I haven't searched to see if there's a thread for that kernel.

Sorry by not working I meant Voodoo not working on the I9000T. I'm a being a bit cautious with my phone so is it really worth using odin to upgrade to 2.2, is it unsafe etc. Like most people I have enough bricks on the side of my house :)

It's damn hard to fully brick your phone, you gotta really be trying. Personally I used stock 2.1 for about a day before it drove me nuts. Odin is pretty safe as long as you read the instructions.

It's almost impossible to brick your phone using Odin

Yes, as wazz/lokhor have said, flashing kernels doesn't touch the bootloader (AFAIK), so unless something goes horribly wrong, you should always be able to reflash from Odin.

The proviso here is that you can get into Download Mode to use Odin, so you must ALWAYS make sure you can do this before thinking about using Odin.

The other essential thing is to use root explorer to grab a copy of /efs, and stow it somewhere on your PC (or external SD card).
