GeeCee:

Pixel 7 Pro on One NZ ... also confirm VoLTE and VoWiFi working A-OK.

Operator settings version vodafone_nz-56000000008.19, 2024-02-22

Android 14 beta QPR3 Beta 2

Bugger, not working on Kogan which I thought it would. Operator setting version 8.63 so slightly different.

This is somewhat ironic. Here is  a list of countries where 5G is supporte on Pixel devices

https://9to5google.com/2024/03/19/google-pixel-5g-countries/

Ironically though the Pixel is officially only available in 20 countries

To quote

"It comes as the Pixel 8 series is only available in 20 (Google Store) countries: Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and United States."

I find the list to be interesting since Ireland and Singapore have smaller or similar populations to NZ and Iceland is definitely smaller. I wonder what criteria they use?

After the latest update on my 6a on Kogan the modem firmware has been updated, however there is still no wifi calling.

And another thing I noticed which is just weird is that my phone no longer says KOGAN MOBILE on the top left on the lockscreen it just says One NZ, which suggests the MVno configuration is broken or something.

I wonder how many more quarters until we get everything working properly.

Managed to get VoLTE working with ONE NZ (previously known as Vodafone NZ) on my Pixel 3a XL device after overriding mbn_sw.txt via Magisk module (root required) to force the selection of mbn file.

It's noticed that the device's firmware already contains mbn files which can be used to get working VoLTE (for example, mcfg_sw/generic/AUNZ/Vodafone/Commercial/mcfg_sw.mbn). However, such mbn file is not auto selected by default, possibly due to problematic carrier identification based on inserted SIM. Hence the need for overriding mbn_sw.txt to force the selection of mbn file.

For anyone still looking I believe I have enabled VoWifi on One using the method linked below from XDA. It was very easy and does not require root access.

I also have enabled it using that method too. BUT! Even though vowifi was "enabled" in `info` - the calls/messages have not been routed through WIFI. Eg: with plane mode activated and wifi enabled the phone wasn't available and couldn't make calls or send/receive messages. One nz, google pixel 6.

After much testing this method appears to be working for me. One is doing network upgrades in my area and reception has been non existent. My calls show the vowifi symbol and haven't dropped once. If I disable wifi calls constantly drop.

The June feature drop has enabled Wifi Calling on Vodafone (I refuse to use the new dumb name) on my PIxel 7 Pro.

There is a new modem firmware included as part of this feature drop too, apparently it makes the 5G on this phone usable (we'll see, I have huge doubts)

Well, replying to myself, but 5G on this thing is still terrible.  It works better, yes, but I find the phone is much faster to load webpages and just the general interactivity of sites/apps using 4G is still much, much faster than 5G.  Might be my coverage area etc, but yea.  I'll be sticking with 4G.

FYI - WiFi calling working on Kogan as well without any workarounds. Just enable it under calls and SMS.

I have the Pixel 8 - however, 5G in Selwyn is almost everywhere. So I don't have the issues you are experiencing.

Just a thought: since I live in an area that is basically only 5G/4G now, the network is likely optimised better than areas with limited coverage

I also noticed the Icon pack must have been updated, as 4G now displays 4G, not LTE.

Strange how the carrier file still says Vodafone, not OneNZ

Gutted, I can't either, on p6 pro with Kogan & june update. Are you able to enable WIFI Calling under Settings > Calls & SMS > Calls as the user above suggests on the P7P?

For me both those menu items are greyed out...

It is provisioned. I also enabled airplane mode, enabled WiFi and was able to make a phone call.
